Lets say you are on the fence about an issue . And a poll says everybody but you believes 2 + 2 = 5. You would rethink your position , because how can everybody be wrong. If you did not know 2 + 2 = 4. You might actually change your mind. Lopsided polls can tell you one opponent is behind
The voters for the ahead opponent may stop voting knowing jhe may win.
The voters who are behind may not vote due to descouragement
or try to get more o vote to make it closer?

Polls are supposed to be an indicator of voter behavior, not an influence. But sometimes the way the poll questions are phrased can create a false or misleading result. Some astute pollsters can publish results that will lead voters one way or another.

The Media basically used Polls number to affect the outcome of the election.
