I agree....politicians being political does nothing to address the problem. Elections are coming around the corner....she is campaigning.
My opinion is that malpractice suits need to stop.....this flagrant suing of doctors when they make mistakes is ridiculous. Careless mistakes are one thing....but blaming doctors and suing them for millions for things that weren't their fault---punishes us all!!
Government needs to go away from this issue and let the free market correct itself.
Illegal immigrants should be limited in the medical treatment and other government services available to them. I stress the word ILLEGAL. I do not think it is fair when you hear of a working mother of 3 having to support her children and pay for healthcare.....and then the illegals somewhere else don't have to worry about this at all. We're punishing people who are actually participating in the system....and rewarding those that aren't!! (touchy topic, I know)
I, myself, have 5 kids....who are all extremely healthy (as are my husband and myself). We have insurance through my husband's work. It's good....but not great. If one of our kids, or us, were to get incredibly ill.........we would really be in a bad position to cover deductables and co-pays!!
It just shouldn't be like this....we shouldn't fear illnesses that are routinely treated now,.....BUT we have to because it is the COST that is going to do us in. Hear the word cancer.....and at first you may fear death but the doctor will tell you it's very treatable. NOW you have to spend the next ten years paying the bills!! Science has made great leaps....why can't medical costs be proportionate???
Argh.....

If you were going to answer the question, then why did you ask?
Actually, the answer is much more complex but you have some good points. As long as any government is run by humans, it will always be flawed. As long as the planet has an evil population, there will never be equity. We have to live with that.
Having said that, I believe it is possible to live a great life without having everything that people with more money have. Health care is one of those things. Sure, there is a minimum level of health care that everyone should have access to. But beyond that minimum, I think everyone should provide for themselves what they can afford.
Not everyone is going to get a heart transplant as not everyone can afford it. Not everyone is going to get advanced cancer treatment as not everyone can afford it. Everyone should be able to visit the doctor when needed.
The government is not the answer, however. The government is rarely the answer as they tend to screw things up more than they fix.

The USA has a problem alright, it is called deadbeats. They are to sorry to work, therefore, us the working class have to carry their ***. Pay for housing, medical and then when they get arrested we have to keep them up in jail, like 3 meals a day, medical and a nice warm cot to lay their sorry heads on. Most of the deadbeats in jail want to be there so they want be cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I say bring back the work camps. Put their *** out picking up trash off the highways. I would like to start a program were they get out and clean my yards, my neighbors yards while we are at work supporting them and their families. Marting Luther King, Jr. is doing double flips in his grave right now. He didn't fight for the slavery to be over just so the white man could support the black man. He wanted the black man to be equal to the white man. Someone just forgot to tell the black man what equal means. MLK, Jr. didn't give his life so the black man could be a crack dealer, gang-banger, thug and live off the system. Memo to black man: get a job, a real job. Make MLK, Jr. proud. If everyone white, black, green or red would work, the world would be a better, safer and more affordable for everyone.

improvement of health care in America begins in the home. We all have to educate ourselves about the behaviors that create much of the demand on the health care system, substance abuse (alcohol and drugs), diet (too much fat, to little protein, too much simple sugar), sedentary lifestyle (too many couch potatoes), and self indulgence (unprotected sex). Then, we need to assume responsibility for our own actions- avoid unnecessary use of the healthcare system, pay our own way to the doctors, and do what the doctor recommends. These simple actions, in and of themselves will reduce the overall healthcare system expense by about 20%. Next, we need to become aware of our family health history. If we have relatives with diabetes or heart disease or high cholesterol, we need to talk with our healthcare provider about reducing our personal risk of these illnesses, and do what the doctor says. This will take another 10 to 15% off the total healthcare cost burden on the nation. Individuals on welfare should have some help with their medical expenses, but they should have to pay part of their own bill, as well. If you do not pay for healthcare advice, you do not own it, and will not follow it.
As to the nursing home population, we actually are providing them good care, for the most part. Senior citizens that fall between the cracks are largely a group of independant minded individuals who do not want any financial help. (I know you may know of an exception to this rule, but for each exception, I can show you ten who ademantly do not want help... my father included) Lastly, we should continue to support basic science research. The cures to many serious illnesses remain illusive.
