If America really values democracy, why was a democratically elected Iranian prime minister toppled and the Shah installed? If Hamas is chosen by the majority of Palestinians to govern them, then why does America question that decision? If America values Democracy why does it have friendly relations with some autocratic regimes like the Saudis while going to war with the Iraqis? The obviously contradictory policies are responsible for America losing respect around the world.

If our government is so bad why are so many people trying to live here. No country is perfect, no person is perfect or did we all forget that.

Do you understand what democracy is? Democracy is mob rule. Democracy is 2 wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner. This government and the media pushes that America is a democracy when it should be a Constitutional Democratic Republic by Constitutional mandate. This is a deception on the American people and part of the reason why this government is blatantly corrupt.

People, please get an education an read and understand the Constitution.

At the Constitutional Convention of 1787, a Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it." History has shown we can't keep it because of the ignorance of Americans.

Surely America is both a Republic and a Representative Democracy. A Republic because the Head of State is not a Monarch and a Representative Democracy because the Government consists of Representatives chosen by the people.

Yes, i agree. What a laugh to see Hamas be democratically elected and then for the Bush Administration say "sorry you can't elect people we don't like". The thing that shocked me the most was that when the EU said it would stop supplying funds, Hamas had no money to pay government and civil servants. So all EU tax payers are paying for some middle-eastern person's living instead of them supporting themselves. I think the US an EU should pull out all funding to the ares and let them get on with it.

In America, democracy is live and kicking. President is answerable to people and if people don't like him they can ensure that he goes out in the next election. People like you can express your opinion and garner support for your view point freely and fearlessly. Same cannot be said of so called democracies you mentioned, which are nothing but frauds, as well as many of the rogue states. You may not be able to express the same opinion you mention here in those countries.

Yes the government knows. Bush is just trying to set up puppet regime in Iraq. What we really need to do is mind our own business. Besides who says the Iraqi people want a democracy? Us? Who are we to decide this? If the Iraqi's want a theocracy let them have it.

Yes....we the people(or some of us anyway) realize this. You need to ask that of our government. Apparently we have no more say so.
