Up here, in the "Mile-Hi City", we just recovered from a Historic event--- may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --- with a historic blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10's of thousands, cancelled over 2000 flights which stranded thousands of passengers in the airport.

FYI:

George Bush did not come.

FEMA did nothing.

No one howled for the government.

No one blamed the government.

No one even uttered an expletive on TV.

Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit.

Our Mayor did not blame Bush or anyone else.

Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else, either.

CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC did not visit - or report on this category 5 snowstorm. Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.

No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.

No one looted.

Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something.

Nobody expected the government to do anything, either.

No Larry King, No Bill O'Rielly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No Geraldo
Rivera.

No Shaun Penn, No Barbara Striesand, No Hollywood types to be found.

Nope, we just melted the snow for water.

Sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars.

The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a
penny.

Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments delivered it

to the snowbound families.

Families took in the stranded people - total strangers.

We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns.

We put on extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die".

We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for 'sittin at home' checks.

Even though a Category "5" blizzard of this scale has never fallen this early, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.

"In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about 48 degrees North Latitude, 90% of the world's social problems evaporate."

It does seem that way, at least to me.

Why do you think the federal government should help the gulf coast? The people of New Orleans have wasted so much federal aid so far it is crazy. You people all know the dangers of living in an area that has historically been pounded by hurricanes. So why should my tax dollars go to help rebuild your town? Sorry, I hope they bulldoze the whole lower half of Louisiana and use it as a land fill. I just read where a senator from one of those states asks for $250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans. Excuse me?
Do these people even know what one billion is? One billion seconds ago, it was 1959. Think about that. If we gave that senator what she wants, that would be over $500,000.00 per person in New Orleans. Sorry folks, you ain't worth it. Nobody is.
Yeah, is was an awful thing that happened there, but oh well. It is over and it is up to those who want to be there to do something, not every person in America. I never been there, have no plans to ever go there and certainly don't want my tax dollars to be spent there. So either move to a more sensible area or fix up your own place, cause I ain't helpin' ya.

Not soon, Because here in the US the republicans control Fema and have veto powers.
And gullible people still compare a big snow or long power outage and their small losses to the permanent destruction and loss of life and property of an entire large city by flood, as if the two were the same, despite this being an Urban Legends hoax of shameful proportions.

Not until we stop spending a billion dollars a day on this stupid war. Sad but true. It's more important to overthrow unimportant little dictators than it is to help our own desperate people.

Maybe, just maybe, they could stop begging for help ... they have received help for over a year now and they are still begging. The peole of Florida who have more hurricane damage than elsewhere tend to be more self resilient and move on and take care of their problems without whining for help.

The only person you can count on in life is you--it's called self reliance.
