Malachi Ritscher's Suicide Note

mission statement

My actions should be self-explanatory, and since in our self-obsessed culture words seldom match the deed, writing a mission statement would seem questionable. So judge me by my actions. Maybe some will be scared enough to wake from their walking dream state - am I therefore a martyr or terrorist? I would prefer to be thought of as a 'spiritual warrior'. Our so-called leaders are the real terrorists in the world today, responsible for more deaths than Osama bin Laden.

I have had a wonderful life, both full and full of wonder. I have experienced love and the joy and heartache of raising a child. I have jumped out of an airplane, and escaped a burning building. I have spent the night in jail, and dropped acid during the sixties. I have been privileged to have met many supremely talented musicians and writers, most of whom were extremely generous and gracious. Even during the hard times, I felt charmed. Even the difficult lessons have been like blessed gifts. When I hear about our young men and women who are sent off to war in the name of God and Country, and who give up their lives for no rational cause at all, my heart is crushed. What has happened to my country? we have become worse than the imagined enemy - killing civilians and calling it 'collateral damage', torturing and trampling human rights inside and outside our own borders, violating our own Constitution whenever it seems convenient, lying and stealing right and left, more concerned with sports on television and ring-tones on cell-phones than the future of the world.... half the population is taking medication because they cannot face the daily stress of living in the richest nation in the world.

CHICAGO - Malachi Ritscher envisioned his death as one full of purpose.

At 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 3 — four days before an election caused a seismic shift in Washington politics — Ritscher, a frequent anti-war protester, stood by an off-ramp in downtown Chicago near a statue of a giant flame, set up a video camera, doused himself with gasoline and lit himself on fire.

Republican Senator: Iraq War "May Be Criminal"
Quote

December 8, 2006, 1:14 PM

It's the kind of thing you'd expect to hear on Pacifica Radio, not in a speech by a Republican senator.

"I, for one, am at the end of my rope when it comes to supporting a policy that has our soldiers patrolling the same streets in the same way, being blown up by the same bombs day after day. That is absurd. It may even be criminal," declared Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR), a 10-year veteran of the Senate, in a speech last night.

With not a cent to your name and in debt to the tune of thousands of dollars? But proud anyway because your Country is rich regardless of the fact that you will slave for 40years doing petty work and geting no benefits whatsoever. Do you think that this is due to brainwashing?

Okay, I really love this country...a lot. but what makes me angry, is that when people started to say (mostly celbrities) "im moving out of this country if Bush is elected" but notice. NONE HAVE MOVED OUT! and what makes me angry is that on the poular show "Oprah" she shows only the democrats opinions. I think that if she wants more people to watch her show, she should have two sides debating against one another.

My mom and Dad are fighting in the war, and I Love them for that, they are serving there country and risking there lives each day. i dont know what their points of veiw on politics are, but if theres were different from mine, i wouldnt care. i would still love them.

I was watching this show where this person was interveiwing Bill Clinton. And Clinton said "If i were still president we would be having 400 troops fighting in that war trying to find him" but..arent the democrats veiws on war having every person back in the U.S?! i dont know whats going on.

Everyone thinks they have all the answers when it comes to running our country. Bush is just an imperfect man like the rest of us. Don't you think we are weakening are country when we bash our president. I believe people in the middle east take joy in this because how can you destroy a great nation? by dividing its people and turning them against their leadership. That how. Our country has never been more divided. Show some pride respect for our country and president. And when the next democrat come in office I will try to do the same.

I know Clinton had more of a reputation for consulting a variety of sources while Bush more surrounds himself with people that agree with what he says, but do we have any examples. What questions were arisen for his 1992 budget plan? How did people within his administration question him?

Yes, this is for a homework assignment. :)

Today I drove by Disney on my way home and there were hundreds of people protesting. On thier signs read: STOP DISNEY FROM OUTSOURCING OUR JOBS

This is happening in every American industry and it is sad to see good American people loose their jobs to countries who usually end up protesting back against us. Take Indonesia for Example
Two weeks ago thousands protested against Bush and were yelling in the streets" Down with America"!!!
People what is going on,
We need to send a clear message to our politians that outsourcing has to end and soon before half of the USA is on welfare!!!

WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ????????

My mother died from angioplasty. The doctor punctured her already weak major arteries. Is that considered malpractice? She went into coma after the angioplasty. Doctors still decided to giver her quad bypass. This was 2 years ago. Do we have a chance to claim malpractice? Does anyone have any idea where we can go for best advice without charging us a lot for consultation? We live in Fremont, Calif.

Every day papers announce the suicide of a farmer. Our politiacians do nothing but express verbal sympathy. Political parties do not care for the farmer because he is a poor man.
I have become too old to help them. But I wish some young man goes around and records the detail of the death of each farmer by collecting data from their family and publises a book for the peopleof India .Thi is necessary because people should know how badly the goverment neglects a farmer and how the neta elected from that constituency is fully apathetic to the condition of the farmers. This is a serious topic for non political India. I dont welcome comments from political party workers who are nothing but chamchas of their leaders. I am repeating the slogan of Swami Vivekananda. Youth of India arise awake snd find the cause of misery of the farmers and eradicte it .
