Republican Senator: Iraq War "May Be Criminal"
Quote

December 8, 2006, 1:14 PM

It's the kind of thing you'd expect to hear on Pacifica Radio, not in a speech by a Republican senator.

"I, for one, am at the end of my rope when it comes to supporting a policy that has our soldiers patrolling the same streets in the same way, being blown up by the same bombs day after day. That is absurd. It may even be criminal," declared Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR), a 10-year veteran of the Senate, in a speech last night.

I think the Republican party is trying to distance itself as far away from anything Bush has done in hopes of the 2008 elections. Remember, these are the same guys who said stuff like "The President has a plan, he's just not going to tell anybody." They supported the President blindly for 6 years thinking they were indestructible until the November elections when the American people got fed up with it. In next few years, you will hear more of them speaking against more of the President's policies like the "No child left behind" gimmick he tried to use for education reform.

Blaming Republicans for Democrats not doing their jobs is definitely a Liberal trait. Obama is a loser and basically losers nonetheless help him. He is right. Bush had no clue as to how to win this war, his own father told him it was a waste of time, but no he knew it all. Remember they kicked the Russians out. YOU CAN NOT WIN THIS WAR. These people are crazy and don't care if they die. We can stay there for 20 yrs and still wont stop them. So lets give the Iraqi army tanks and heavy weapons show them how to use them and then bring our kids home. Let the other Arab countries take care of things. After 3 yrs it is time to get the hell out. No it is not about the oil, it is about the Bush ego and cant admit he screwed up.All this from a guy who had his old man get him out of serving in the national guard.

They are not deserting the Iraq War they were forced by the public who are not as stupid and gullible as G. Bush and Cronies seem to think to open their eyes and rethink the fact that this was a totally unnecessary war based on fiction and a lie. There were many other ways to curb Saddam Hussein.

Unfortunately, 3,000 young people lost their lives and 23,000 were maimed to satisfy G. Bush's lust for power.

They're in for the long haul until the oil wells are dry. They just think you're not paying attention and won't notice that they're staying. Don't be fooled.
