Government - September 2006

"Protect the U.S. Homeland The attacks of September 11, 2001 have made us feel a vulnerability not felt in more than fifty years. We have spent hundreds of billions of dollars a year defending our allies in Western Europe and East Asia and distributed tens of billions more in foreign aid to countries throughout the developing world. These high-profile foreign policy programs have only bred resentment against us and made us enemies. It is time to sharply scale back our foreign involvement and turn our attention to the real threats facing Americans: a sagging economy, decaying schools, a shaky health care system, and inadequate resources to protect against terrorism, even if this may upset the worldwide balance of power and cause insecure countries to seek nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons." (from a program of the Watson Institute at Brown Univ.)

I ask this because I am writing a paper on what the US role in the world is, do you agree with this statement.

I think the United States role in the world is to protect it's global interests such as crucial raw materials (oil etc.) , stop terrorism, protect US trade, homeland security, and other interests that go along that line. I know many people will say that spreading democracy, being a bully and some other reasons are correct, but I would like to hear your stance on my debatable opinion.

Ad Hominem. Anyone? When the libs don't like what they are asked they either (1) change the subject, or (2) ad homiem, giving personal attacks. Tell me your opinion.

I've had a bit of of experience of sending several parcel. I know that sending domesticated stamps (stamps within america) for envelopes are 39 cents...

I went to the usps.com site and they said that sending letters as far away as china costs 84 cents. I know that the usps have 84 cents stamps, but I was too lazy to go to the post office to get one. So instead I used two 39 cents stamps, and 1 37 stamp on the envelope. So yeah I'm wondering if those 3 stamps will actually work..

And yes I'm sending it to China because of ebay related businesses. I sent it last monday ago on the 28th, and I told the ebay seller to tell me when he got the envelope. In the back of my mind I'm worried that why shouldn't it reach within a week?

Please answer me if you know how the stamps

Hey y'all

Just been looking through the Blair posts, and ive seen a shocking short-sightedness with some people.
Yes, Blair has done his time, and its good hes going to stand down, but i ask you, who do you want to replace him? Brown, who the electorate has not voted for? Cameron, the Chameleon? Mingus and the Liberal-Democrats?

Just interested in your responses guys

This quote:
"They say, while a faction is a minority, it will remain harmless by being outvoted; and if it should become a majority, all its acts, however profligate or violent, are than legitimate. For, with the democrats, the people is sovereign who can do no wrong, even when he respects and spares no existing right, and whose voice, however obtained or however counterfeited, bears all the sanctity and all the force of a living divinity."

My friend has 3 children with his ex-girlfriend. Him and this girl never lived together they just had these children, and since the kids were born he's always been there financially and physically. He would always visit, call them and give them whatever they needed. She never put child support on him and he never put it on himself because he was supporting them. The only thing was that if he wanted to see his children he had to go see them at her house in front of her, it had to be that or nothing at all. He knew it wasnt fair but he wanted to see his kids so he accepted, but now he doesnt anymore bc he wants to spend some time alone with his kids at his house. She never wants to and now for that reason he doesnt give her money because he doesnt think she's being fair. He tells her that he'll give her money if she lets him take the kids out and she says no. If he does put cs on himself, about how much will he pay?and what are the visitation rights? He wants to know everything he should.

I'm a brit and at first was against joining the EU properly but after travelling a bit in europe and speaking to the people i'm beginning to change my mind. I realise it will have draw backs but i think we will benefit in the long run. One thing i have realised is that the government out right lies to us. An example is that blair stated we have less tax than in france. I spoke to 2 brits who now live in france and they both agree that france has lower tax than us. Do you feel the government makes as anti EU because of twisted figures and poor education on the matter?

think about it. i believe the governement created this desease to decrease the population (and minorities) due to over-population. also to get more income in the country through perscription medicine.

Well, the fact that this man is still alive is the biggest debunker of this myth. If the goverment has no problem killing 3,000 americans + all the casualties in the war on terrorism what makes you think tht they wouldnt have a problem killing one more person in order to keep the secret. Also do you think the goverment isnt powerful enough to shut down a website like this within minutes of creation. Also people say that steel doesnt melt until 1500 degrees yet jet fuel burns at 860 degrees, but did you know that steel loses half its strength at 689 degrees. Also do you think that some college students who read unclassified news reports and zoomed in on shaky footage could uncover a conspiracy including the entire administration, the FBI, the CIA, thousands of people? No, they couldnt, also dont you think that some one would have said something before.
