I'm a brit and at first was against joining the EU properly but after travelling a bit in europe and speaking to the people i'm beginning to change my mind. I realise it will have draw backs but i think we will benefit in the long run. One thing i have realised is that the government out right lies to us. An example is that blair stated we have less tax than in france. I spoke to 2 brits who now live in france and they both agree that france has lower tax than us. Do you feel the government makes as anti EU because of twisted figures and poor education on the matter?

Jesi clearly doesnt understand European Politics. France and Belgium have not broken from the Germans, France is currently preparing for a new presidental election, every country disengages at the time of a general election.

The Euro has proved to be as strong as it can. However, the world markets need to accept it and trust it as a currency. Currently, Britain needs to throw itself into the mix, but i will accept the Eurozone isnt one entirely happy family. Its nickname as the House of Jealous Lovers is truely an earned one, we both love being European and love getting one over eachother.

However, on the continent, the Europeans are very much in favour of some form of Union, the one thign we fear most is over-enlargement. The proposals to include a new 'barrier' status for the Eastern bloc countries is more workable then a full membership, as is giving Turkey a limited role.

Yes, i do think that as a nation we are poorly education about the Union, and im personally a devout European Federalist. The EU has given us the longest period of peace in Europe for hundreds of years, and we can ofset the Americans if we work together

They know enough to distance themselves from sharing a currency.

The EU will be torn apart by the cabal of countries who feel they are better than the newer members. This friction will be too great to handle and the EU will begin to break into factions and eventually split.

The development of the Middle East, and in a decade or so, Africa will test the alliance. France and Belgium have already split from their alliance with Germany and Russia, instead of the four of them acting as a coalition they have split. The reason is economic.

Russia and Germany want to build nuclear power plants, as do France and Belgium, they are competing against each other. There is a huge profit involved and when money gets involved it is no longer a happy family, but they are competing for what they can get.

As long as the Murdoch press and some politicians rant and rave about the Euro for reasons of their own, and get more than enough people to believe them and repeat their propaganda, all your politicians will be too cowardly to join, although it would be better for your country.
At the moment the Pound is overvalued and in e.g Ireland business people start looking for cheaper sources elsewhere, also tourists from the rest of Europe stay away.
You can now go from Lisbon to Athens without having to change money, and I think it's phantastic, even when many traders have taken the opportunity of conversion to fleece us.

I personally hope it never happens. Some country's are in a right old state since giving up their own currency.
