I'm not referring to the new bills to prevent counterfitting, but a complete change that would make all current bills obsolete, with a time limit to exchange all our money for new currency.
Would this help ferret out illegal monies, ie drug stashes, etc? We already are monitored for any bank deposit above $10,000.

What do you think? And Why?

This country has been faced with so many problems this past 51/2 years that is seems a large number of people focus on hot button issues like abortion and same-sex marriage rather than things that affect our lives on a daily bases. Gas prices are skyrocketing while oil companies are reaping record profits, the medicare program is so confusing that seniors have no idea what they are paying for and if it is the right product for them, power plants, airports, mass transportation and water supplies are not protected from terrorism almost 5 years after 9/11, millions of Americans have no healthcare, Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will cost more than $500 billion by 2007, candidates for political office beholden to corporations due to large campaign contributions, college tuition increase as much as 11% a yr for the last 5 years, corporations raiding empoyee pension plans, abortion & same sex marriage, & corporate welfare just to name a few. Rate issues for importance and why.

I am pretty sure that in the late 1700's they voted to make German the national language to severe all ties with England. The vote failed and everyone continued to speak English. Does anyone know if this is correct? Does anyone have a link to prove this?

Do you think that the usa will ever go to war with a country which is capable of defending itself in the conventional manner, or will it just stick to bullying the little guys? Could the usa defend itself against a well armed nation?

Why is it that everytime we vote for someone for office we praise that person during the elections, as soon as they get to office people start to look down on the efforts of the person we voted for. It is a continous circle- like bill clition, just cause he had an affiar with a lady we hated his guts even though we loved the guy when he was running for presedent. No matter who is it we still wont agree with the person - it is like america has a trust issue or something.

I would like to propose a Federal Coastal Tax (FCT) on all coastal properties. The revenue generated from this tax would be used as emergency aid BEFORE general Federal disaster relief funds would be tapped into.

The point of this tax would be to have coastal properties carry the burden of inevitable seasonal storms. In the wake of Katrina consider the ramifications of higher insurance premiums on private residences and businesses. The likelyhood is that fewer people will be insured for the next Katrina.

Federal disaster relief costs will increase. These costs should be born by coastal properties first.

It seems this 'great democracy' has become more of a oligarchy with the rich having all the money AND political power. Do people who seek public office basically have to be the puppets of big lobbying groups and corporate donors? Why don't people care that those they elect (from both parties) seem only concerned with enriching themselves and holding on to their power with little or no concern as to their constituents' best interests?
