First of all, I am sorry to hear you have lost both your parents. As far as your question is concerned, Social Security does have a survivor benefit. Now, since you are under 18 that support would go to your guardian to support you. When I say support you, I am referring to feeding you; clothing you; keeping a roof over your head, ect. If you are in foster care, it would be payable to the state. If you are living with another relative, it would go to them. I don't think you would receive benefits after you turn eight teen, because at that point you are an adult and no longer a dependant. I would try to find out if your parents had a will just incase they had some sort of life insurance that you may be entitled to or estate. If you live with relatives, I would suggest you sit down with them and ask some questions. I would not invest in a lawyer until there is good reason to believe something is being held from you that you are entitled to. Are you sure that your parents actually owned anything tangible of value? Did they have a house they owned that was sold after their death before foreclosure?

If you are in foster care, please plan for your future. Stay in school and try your best to get good grades. Visit the high school counselor and find out if there are any scholarship programs for students that are in the custody of the state. It's going to be a tough road for you. Hang in there. You can rise above it.

Take care :)

Check under "Windows, widowers, & other survivors." But since you're not yet 18, the government may not grant you the money until you turn 18. And they may end up taking out of the money due to you for foster care costs (if that applies) but I'm not too sure on that.

I'm sorry about your parents.

You are entitled to their social security. Contact your local Social Security Administration to file for survivor benefits

You should be getting your parent's social security benefits. Call your nearest Social Security Office, it will be in the yellow pages.

you probably do need an attorney to see if your parents have a will or if there is an executor to their estate and what role you play in all this ....sorry about your parents...good luck
