With the War in Iraq, the new Hurricane season, a slowing economy, evidence that terrorists are right in our own backyard - does Pres. Bush really think this is a good time to worry about "the sanctity of marriage" by pushing for a Constitutional Amendment? He has to be trying for the Guiness Book of World Records as the most inept Pres. EVER!! Right or wrong?

I’m just looking for everyone’s view point on this. Please do not be hateful or mean in your responses I’m looking for an honest discussion. Are you for or against this, and why?

My opinion:
I think gay marriage should be made legal. Many people say it should be banned because the bible says so, but the US was founded on religious freedom. Besides alternative life-stylists are not looking for validation from the church, they simply want the union to be honored in a legal sense, so if one were to die the other would be protected the same that any straight widow would be. It about civil rights, not about religion. Don’t forget the US did not honor the union of African Americans, and other minorities, for a while. Should anyone find love in this huge world and wish to dedicate their lives to one another then they should be free to and to be protected under the marriage laws and provisions, gay or straight.
