Elections - December 2007

I thought Paul looked incompetent AND clueless during the interview. He wasn't asked any "softball" questions so he had a hard time.

Paul looked like an old man that can't handle these type of questions. In fact, at one point he was called on an area where Paul is a hypocrite!

Paul says he has never voted for earmarks. However, he puts things in bills that will provide money to his district, knowing full well that the bill will be passed. He provides "earmark" money for his district but he votes against it. I agree that this sounds like the old "voting for the war before voting against it" flip-flop. Paul didn't like the analogy but it's accurate.

I think that if people see this interview, and have an open mind, they will understand that Ron Paul is not a candidate to vote for!

Except for the ravenous Paul supporters, that have closed minds about the other candidates, what do you think?

They have proven what they would do while in power, actually. They will go along to get along and conduct the same old business as usual. They are the ruling class who stands on the shoulders of the great unwashed masses. Yes, vote one of them in to the White House, too. That should cement four more years of sos.

On "Meet the Press" this morning, Tim Russert did not expose Ron Paul as a fool. Rather, he asked the questions that let Paul expose himself -- as I predicted he would. Russert called Paul on his tax policy, and asked him how much revenue would be lost. He asked Paul how much money would be saved if he withdrew troops from Europe and the Far East. In each case, Paul admitted he didn't know. He acted as though he didn't care if North Korea invaded South Korea. Russert called Paul on his lie that he never supported abolishing public schools. Russert proved Paul a hypocrite on pork, as he'd earmarked big-time for his district; and on term limits, which this 10-term Congressman had campaigned on. Paul's own words made him look completely ridiculous. How can anybody who saw this man, exposed as not having a clue on economic or foreign policy, still support him? Can we now close the book on the Paul legend?

The media and Obama's opponents (most notably sneaky Clinton) gives the public a constant message that he is "inexperienced." Do ignorant people think it means he is stupid or naive?

He is a Democrat like Hillary, except without all the Clinton baggage.

He's more experienced than Obama (who, let's face it, people vote for because they remembered his speech at Kerry's convention.)
He has sat on the Foreign Relations committee for quite some time. The next president MUST know a lot about foreign relations.
He actually drafts bills and reads them, including his suggested plan for the Iraqi government---NOT partition, but federalism, which would keep the country from going into civil war and grant the Kurds, Shia, and Sunnis their own degree of autonomy within a unified Iraq.

That comment about Obama being "clean" which everyone in our race-obsessed society jumped all over? Jesse Jackson himself said he spoke to Biden after the incident and he concluded it was just an unfortunate choice of words.

Is electing another old white man to office something cool and different? No. But the question is who is most mature; who has the least amount of question marks...Biden 08!

I remember when the very first stirrings of campaign fever came about, the media was immediately zero'ed in on 2 candidates: Clinton and Obama. My immediate gut reaction: "Damn, in covering these two folks so disproportionately, its already become a no-go for all other candidates."

We unfortunately get our info from the TV--a medium very limited in its ability to deliver complex information beyond soundbytes. The "debates" were anything but. Kucinich was edited out, for example.

I honestly believe that were the mass media to give equal airtime to all candidates, Clinton and Obama would not be leading. I also think the focus is on the female and the Black candidate because people have a natural urge to make history and elect the first ___ president.

Fellow Americans, let's research best we can and come to our own conclusions. The internet is a great place to start. Let's vote without worrying about how pointless it is because "everyone else" is voting Obama, Clinton, etc. anyway.

It's all I hear..... the poor, the poor, the poor. I don't give a damn about the poor. Why should I? What does the poor have to do with me? Get a job. The same could be said about immigrants, minorities, blah blah blah. I DO care about the rights of women...... um, because I AM ONE. See how that works?

Should voting be restricted to land owners, stock holders and military? These are the people that actually own a piece of the U.S. or are fighting for it. People on welfare or the poor are always going to vote for the party that promise to give them more for doing nothing. Do they have a right to demand what the government does with yours and my money?

"(McCain) has a brand of courage that is rare in the public arena these days -- a courage forged in part by those years spent as a prisoner of war in Vietnam and in part by more than two decades of fighting for what he believes in on the floor of the U.S. Senate," the newspaper's editorial board wrote.

The Herald -- the hometown newspaper of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, McCain's rival for the Republican nomination -- described the senator as "a man of unwavering conviction and integrity."

The paper said it was breaking with its tradition of endorsing both Republican and Democratic candidates to put its full support behind McCain. It cited the senator's support for the Iraq troop surge, tax cuts and immigration reform as reasons for the endorsement.

"John McCain should be the next president of the United States and the Boston Herald is proud to endorse his candidacy," the Herald said.

If this question looks familiar, there's a good reason for it. Someone else asked it earlier this morning, but EVERY time I tried to respond to it, I got an "Error 999" message from Yahoo when I clicked on the "Submit" button.

SO -- I guess the only way I can respond to it is to RE-ask it, here, and then follow up with the answer I *tried* to give it before. Here's the answer I couldn't get through ---

"Ron Paul clearly has the same chance of getting nominated as a snowflake would have of surviving in a fully-stoked blast furnace. As for the other Republican candidates -- they all are in the pocket of the UN-Christian "Religious" Radical Right, and I wouldn't vote for any of them if they were running for dogcatcher. Here's why. (Right-click on each link, and "Open in New Window" that you can easily close. Then tell me if you'd still vote for a Republican, if you currently feel so inclined.) ---

The US Dollar is plunging on the world market. The Arabians don't even want to quote their oil prices in US dollars anymore. The USA can't raise interest rates to make the US Dollar attractive to foreign investment because half of the people in the USA will have their houses forclosed on because of adjustable rate mortgages. Do you agree the USA is trapped into a downward spiral with no way out?
