The person who tells the truth would get my vote. I don't like being lied to. Honesty is the best policy. Anyhow, who is so great that any of us have to lie to another person? It takes away a person's credibility when you find out that they have lied to you.

The best policy is honesty! So, id rather go to the one who tells the truth!

The latter of course. That's how I judge my friends as well. All my friends are honest and truthful good or bad. That's what I seek honesty above all else.

I'd rather vote for whoever tells the truth.

I'd rather have someone in power who tells it as it is instead of someone who tries to blow sunshine up everyone's skirts just to get in power and then does whatever they want.

I agree with DG. There is no substitute for the truth, no matter how good or bad it is.

Generally the former but if their truth conflicted with my values I wouldn't vote for them just on their honesty.
I mean, Hitler was fairly honest about his intentions but that wouldn't make me vote for him.

I don't believe that candidates necessarily tell the truth, they all tell you what you want to hear so that you will vote for them. The only way to find out what they will truly do is check their past voting record and that will tell you where they stand on issues.
But to answer your question-if I could tell the difference, I would vote for the person that told the truth-if he represented my viewpoint.
