Elections - September 2007

Why shouldn't I just quit my job and go on assistance? America seems to be going more and more Socialist and what would be the purpose of me continuing to be self sufficient? I am beginning to think it would be best if Hillary would just pay me to watch Jerry Springer all day. When I have my heart attck from inactivity, Hillary will pay for my Health Care also, this is great.

On a side note, that would be a great campaign tool if it weren't negative. She could have her name written on flip flops - funny and effective at the same time.
My question goes for ALL politicians (sorry, the flip flop thing just amuses me) - do you think anyone stands a chance at getting elected when day after day they contradict themselves?

I would love to hear a detailed response from those that are well versed in politics.

With the recent happenings, including Clinton's poor showing at the most recent debate, coupled with Obama's lack of experience, and the fact that Edwards is a bit of a honk, and has already "lost once" (never bides well in the eyes of the public) -- Is there ANY chance that one of the dark horses will emerage from the Democratic side?

I am specifically curious about Joe Biden, or Bill Richardson.

Isn't it just too early to pay attention to the polling that shows Clinton with a massive lead?

In 2003 Howard Dean was the clear cut, no doubt Democratic winner, and in looking back after some research, Dean's chief rivals were Gephardt and Edwards -- John Kerry wasn't even considered a front runner, then ended up winning the nod.

Ultimately - Can Biden, or Richardson emerage?

Is it because he reminds him of their grandfather? Or is it his impossible idealogy?

Just like Sen. Kerry in the last presidential run, HIllary seems to show the same traits. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/wn_report/2007/09/28/2007-09-28_hillary_flipflop_on_torture_inspired_aft.htmlThe main one being her inability to make a decision and stick with it. And like Kerry, she chooses any side that will bring in the most votes.

We need a president who can make decisions and stand his/her ground, even when the decision in unpopular. Does anyone agree?

He shows all the signs. Empty stare, rambling answers, quivering head while talking, etc...
My fear is that Hillary is playing him. She pads the crowd with her supporters pretending to be his. She hopes to trick this old fool into believing he actauly has a chance so he runs as an independent and spilts the Republican party. It's the "Ross Perot" play right out of Bill's hand book.

A President in my eyes and opinion, has always been a man's job...taking on that huge responsiblity of running a country is not an easy task, and not one that I would envision a female (no offense, women) doing...so I am really curious, what answers (hopefully all intelligent ones) I will get.

A Clinton/Obama ticket would be simply amazing, but she's too calculating for that. Edwards would bring in women votes, which Hillary doesn't need. I know she is going to pick a man who just exudes hardassery, like Dick Cheney. Does this mean she has to pick a relative unknown, a dark horse to balance out her prominence in national politics for the past 11 years?

I think she's wrong to not pick Obama as her running mate, but no way she risks losing the Presidency because she stupidly chose a black guy as her VP. I think he would draw enough young people, though, and she has the oldies in the bag.

"It is not the strongest species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change" -Darwin

Legislators block their own term limits, they set their own pay, and they cater to the interests of powerful people that can get them re-elected instead of doing what is best for the country.

Publicly financed elections may at least partially solve the last problem, but how can we do away with the conflicts of interests that allow the same legislators with the same old ideas to stay in power for decades? If our very system precludes us from adapting quickly to our rapidly changing world, won't we just be playing the same game that all failed nation-states have played (and lost)?

What if we dissolved Congress into multiple houses that oversaw each other, so that we could have checks and balances within the legislature itself? That way, we also wouldn't have to expect legislators to be experts on every issue, and we could actually elect experts in their fields.

as far as I'm concerned he has my vote. but i want to be truly informed. everyone has skeletons in their closet, and i want to know about his. I'm not going to judge him over these 'skeletons' but i would like to know. I'm not keen over surprises, so i want to know what I'm getting into when i offer him my support and spread the word of him to other voters. thank you for your help and constructive criticism :o)

We don't need Rodham or Giuliani and with good reason, they are blatantly blood suckers and low lifes. Why are we not marking this as high stakes and looking at the real candidates that are truly qualified? Why is a joke? And my goodness, for some it is racial.

The polls show all the democrats beating all the republicans by decent margins, except for Guiliani, who keeps it close. People favor the democrats now as a party by pretty wide margins. The odds are that congress will increase the democratic majority. Where did the GOP go wrong? I think it's immigration. They appear to be a southern, racist party. They are killing themselves with hispanics, and they need to not hand that voting bloc over to democrats. On the other side, there are conservatives that are mad more is not being done on the border. For me it was Iraq, but I was a left leaning independent. Iraq just turned me off of them completely. Do they have a chance to come back?

What's the chance that Bill Clinton AND his wife both happen to be fit to be president of the United States? Any mathematicians know? Do you think it's pretty odd that the first possible female candidate to be president also happens to be the wife of a former president?

For example, there's supposed to be a debate at an all-black college with the GOP.

But NONE of them are showing up; citing "scheduling difficulties".

Is it really that, or are they just blowing off every minority in sight--thinking that they can win with just their 30% base of supporters?
