Who relies more on the Government -- Republicans or Democrats?

Parties are HOW you win elections. Ideology is WHY you win. This question is actually more about Liberal vs Conservative than Democrat vs Republican. While Liberals are more likely to be Democrats and Conservatives are more likely to be Republicans, both parties have members that are Liberal and members that are Conservative. As currently used in politics, Liberals tend to favor more government and Conservatives tend to favor less. In my opinion, most politicians favor TOO MUCH government.

technically it's the democrats. Republicans want little government involvement where as democrats want a lot of government involvement in every day life. for example, republicans don't want laws against guns (government staying out of their business) and democrats suppose social services (government really involved)

Since republicans have been in the majority for the majority of the time, I would say the republicans are more dependent on the government. Those who are outside the system tend to be less dependent on the system while those inside the sytem are more dependent on the system.

In terms of the amount of money spent, I would say Republicans. When you add up all the tax breaks for certain industries, subsidies, & government contracts, it far exceeds what is spent on the welfare programs.
