I would love to hear a detailed response from those that are well versed in politics.

With the recent happenings, including Clinton's poor showing at the most recent debate, coupled with Obama's lack of experience, and the fact that Edwards is a bit of a honk, and has already "lost once" (never bides well in the eyes of the public) -- Is there ANY chance that one of the dark horses will emerage from the Democratic side?

I am specifically curious about Joe Biden, or Bill Richardson.

Isn't it just too early to pay attention to the polling that shows Clinton with a massive lead?

In 2003 Howard Dean was the clear cut, no doubt Democratic winner, and in looking back after some research, Dean's chief rivals were Gephardt and Edwards -- John Kerry wasn't even considered a front runner, then ended up winning the nod.

Ultimately - Can Biden, or Richardson emerage?

We can only hope, but fund-raising and party backing appears to be the trump cards. Kerry had Kennedy and his crew in his pocket and Dean was a grassroots candidate who raised funds early but then it dried out. Edwards was associated with a loser (Gore) so did not have widespread party backing. Clinton has the fund raising but lacks widespread party backing due to her baggage and the opposite is true with Obama so the race is far from over.

About anythng "can happen". Enough Democrats dislike Hillary that her present lead might drop off, and neither Obama or Edwards have much to offer. Biden is knowledgeable, experienced and level-headed, and is the one who SHOULD win the Democrat primary if the voters just start to think about what's best for their country.

Sorry "TJTB", but as a Republican who watched Ron Paul and other Republican candidates on a black-sponsored Republican debate last night, I think Ron Paul and Alan Keyes looked like fools. Mike Huckabee, Sam Brownback and Douglas Hunter offered good sensible responses to some very incisive questions from an intelligent and largely black audience.

Its still completely up in the air at this point and the media is doing what it does best .
After Iowa and New Hampshire we will get a clearer picture of what is really going on .
Up till those primaries its all media and polling companies working for corporate giants that are controlling the election process and spinning the candidates in the light they choose .

Soon they will have to start reporting who the people really want .

Its Like fox news keeping Ron Paul down even though their poll showed him as a top contender after several debates .
He may show poorly in the controlled polls but a phone in poll has him in the top three .

If you pay attention Joe Biden and Dennis Kucinich my emerge as the front runners with voters in the primaries .

Frankly being a moderate it's my hope the Democrat party goes with someone like Biden or Richardson. i'm getting tired of voting against the candidate the Democrats run. Richardson I would prefer of the two. He's got less time in DC than Biden. but to his credit Biden hasn't seemed to have caught the Potomac Fever so many other politicians have who had spent time in DC.

You can guess and reason things out all you want, but until that fat broad decides to sing, we're all in total darkness.
Any one of these guys can end his/her career 2 seconds after coming to the microphone with a bad joke,( Kerry) or a crazy scream, ( Dean).
Seems like the guy who ends up being the best speaker, is the guy who keeps his mouth shut.
Since the advent of the Internet and rapid transfer of information, politics has become like something akin to walking the gauntlet.

The lead will sway back and forth for months yet,who comes out on top is hard to tell.
A lot depends on who opens their mouth and shoots themself in the foot the most.
Edwards is a lost cause.
