Elections - August 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Elections

Example: All the Urban Legends regarding the Clintons that the cons always post. Why don't they first check it out with reliable sources, or at least do a search on snopes.com? Is it because they enjoy spreading false rumors & lies about people? Or do they just get their jollies by repeating the same malicious gossip their friends are spreading?

If you and a gazillion other Americans all wrote in their own vote and soundly rejected both the Democratic and Republican Party's candidates, making the majority vote the write-in, could those people become the new President and Vice President of the United States? (The write in could be anybody, but just for the sake of this question, let's say it was Donald Trump written in for President and Rosie O'Donnel for Vice President) I think I am going to move out of country!, ...or....stay....it could be verrrryyyy interesting!!!!!

When Obama was running for Senator of Illinois I actually liked him. Since he announced he is running for president and I hear him speak I dislike him even more and more. Now it seems he has a huge ego and talks in circles. Also he doesn't seem as sincere. Don't get me wrong I am a liberal and will always be a liberal. I am the only democrat that feels this way?

When considering an independent candidate as your ONLY choice for president meaning conservatives and liberal extremists were NOT RUNNING or inacessable for some reason to the mainstream vote...who would get more of the popular vote in the election....

Ron Paul
or
Ru Paul

Just an opinion, no posturing or pelosi/reid regime grandstanding, thanks.

I mean, Gravel seems cool but he's an underdog for sure... and Edwards, Clinton, and Obama seem to do an awful lot of "tap dancing"...

Not that I'm leaning towards republicans... they aren't fairing much better. The choices are getting slim!

My boyfriend and I even have a little bet on. He's a politics major and says she's in but even though he knows a lot about it and has masses of arguments for the case, I just don't see her winning. We're not American and I don't follow the race so I'm not that well informed, I'm just wondering, will she win it or not and what could be her downfall?

Why did it take pressure from the families and public for an investigation? Why did it take public pressure for the de-classification of the PDR titled "BinLaden determined to strike inside US"?Why did Bush refuse to be sworn in and testify before the 9/11 commission? Why did he only agree to meet with the commissioners behind closed doors with Cheney in attendence? Why weren't they at least interviewed seprately? How can we believe men who won't stand before the public and swear to tell the truth?

Some of the candidates haven't even been in the military. How is our commander in chief just supposed to be able to command our entire army when he hasn't even been in it?

I am planning on voting for Ron Paul who is a libertarian, but he is trying to get the Republican nomination...
So would I have to register as a Republican or something? (Or can I just be independent and vote in it)

What day will the election be held (I live in California)?

Gathering point for the liberally whiny...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070825/ap_on_el_pr/clinton_terror_politics
quote(wire)
Democratic rivals criticized Hillary Rodham Clinton on Friday for her comment that a terror attack before the election would help the Republicans.
...............the main point being.............
quote 2
Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd said in his own statement, "Frankly, I find it tasteless to discuss political implications when talking about a potential terrorist attack on the United States."

quote 3
Likewise, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson said in a statement, "We shouldn't be thinking about terrorism in terms of its domestic political consequences, we should be protecting the country from terrorists."

I find it hard to believe working americans can read a story like this and think anything else than the Clintons have hit an all time low. Why do out of control liberal extremists continue to give her a pass on self serving grandstanding comments

(Sing along to the tune of Beverly Hillbillies)

Come and listen to my story 'bout a boy named Bush.
His IQ was zero and his head was up his tush.
He drank like a fish while he drove all about.
But that didn't matter 'cuz his daddy bailed him out.
DUI, that is.
Criminal record.
Cover-up.
Well, the first thing you know little Georgie goes to Yale.
He can't spell his name but they never let him fail.
He spends all his time hangin' out with student folk.
And that's when he learns how to snort a line of coke.
Blow, that is.
White gold.
Nose candy.
The next thing you know there's a war in Vietnam.
Kin folks say, "George, stay at home with Mom."
Let the common people get maimed and scarred.
We'll buy you a spot in the Texas Air Guard.
Cushy, that is.
Country clubs.
Nose candy.
Twenty years later George gets a little bored.
He trades in the booze, says that Jesus is his Lord.
He said, "Now the White House is the place I wanna be."
So he called his daddy's friends and they called the GOP.
Gun owners, that is.
Falwell.
Jesse Helms.
Come November 7, the election ran late.
Kin folks said "Jeb, give the boy your state!"
"Don't let those colored folks get into the polls."
So they put up barricades so they couldn't punch their holes.
Chads, that is.
Duval County.
Miami-Dade.
Before the votes were counted five Supremes stepped in.
Told all the voters "Hey, we want George to win."
"Stop counting votes!" was their solemn invocation.
And that's how George finally got his coronation.
Rigged, that is.
Illegitimate.
No moral authority.
Y'all come vote now.
Ya hear?

Full PPO Insurance, no one has to decide if you get the operation or procedure but the doctor. Not an HMO. Family coverage is for up to 4 persons in the family, and the plus plan is for families that is higher than 4 and cost not much more.

Would you want your employer or business to be a part of that plan?

Just curious.

With the 2008 presidential elections on the horizon I have noticed that many of the Democrats are discupushing for health care reform (something that is needed). What they fail to mention is who will be paying for it and how much it will raise my taxes. So I am wondering if raise our taxes to the heights of Canada and Europe putting us (working & middle class) close to a 50% bracket. Any thoughts would be appreciated (especially from the candidates).
