Racism cannot be attributed to either party, although you will likely get answers from both sides accusing both parties of being racist. I know this is true because there are members of the KKK from both sides of the aisle.

I think you are confusing the DNC-the Democratic Political Party, with the word democratic. Simply put, democratic means they practice a form of democracy. Being a "democratic organization" means that they have individual members vote to elect leaders of the organization. It has nothing to the with the Democratic Party. As far as the KKK, I do not know if they have a democratically elected leadership or not.

Years ago the Democrats in the South were the party of racism. The reason the Republican party came about in the first place, in the 1850s, was to try to abolish slavery, and Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican president. After that, Southerners couldn't bring themselves to vote for the Republicans. For a long time there were really -two- Democratic parties, one in the South that supported segregation and Jim Crow laws and another in the rest of the country that fought for civil rights and integration.
(It should be mentioned that 100 years ago Democrats in the Northeast, Midwest and West were more racially tolerant but much more intolerant of immigrants, because unions wanted to keep cheap foreign labor out of the country).
After WWII there was an attempt by the Southern Democrats to split off and form a new party called the Dixiecrats. Senator Strom Thurmond, who just died a couple of years ago at over 100 years of age, was part of this party. The attempt failed, though.
In the 1960s the Civil Rights Act was passed by President Johnson, forcing integration in the South. Many Democrats feared that this would alienate Southern Democrats, and they were right. President Nixon implemented a plan called the 'Southern Strategy' which had the effect of making a lot of Southern senators and congressmen switch to the Republican Party.
So now the Republican Party has become the party of racial segregation. But at one time it was Southern Democrats. In the days of the KKK, the South was Democratic. What's left of the KKK -today- is Republican.

Neither the Democrats or the Republicans have completely shed the cloak of racism. Being a racist does not necessarily influence what political party that person will belong too any more than belonging to a political party will make one a racist.

Calling someone a member of the KKK is a huge insult. Since your friend said the KKK is Democratic, I would say she is a Republican and simply wanted to insult Democrats

There is a "BIG" difference between a democratic organization, [an organized group which elects a leader]
,,,and the political democratic party.
The KKK would be more like the old German Nazi party in their white supremacy beliefs.
The modern democratic party electees are wishy-washy do-nothings [ because they recently were elected to congress on a stop the war ticket, & didn't stop anything.] who recieve fat paychecks for lots of talk, and no action!
If you really want a change back to the REAL American principles written in the U. S. Constitution........HELP US GET """RON PAUL""" Nominated & then Elected to President!
Thank you.

That would probably be true after the War Between the States when Southerners were blaming the Republicans for freeing the slaves. Things have turned around some since then.

In super- based democratic elections, the commonplace public is God. (Now that is frightening) The supplicants hoping to be elected worship this deity and attempt to placate it with bribes, and with a liturgy of tempting sound-bites. elevating and sacrificing enormous parts of money, they need to be heard for his or her many words interior the media. yet this may be a capricious (and customarily ill-counseled) deity, which makes for a risky faith certainly. different than for being extra costly, it is not consistently common to tell apart between democracy and mob-rule.

The KKK have a reputation for being racists. I cannot imagine how they would be considered democratic. At one time, most were probably Southern Democrats.
