A month ago, I was stopped by a police officer in New York City while driving in Brooklyn. He asked me if I knew why I was being stopped and I had said no, then he said it was because I was using a cell phone and my boyfriend who was sitting in the passenger seat wasn't wearing a seatbelt, both of which was not true. I told the officer to check my cell phone that I had not made or receive any calls within the past hour and he said he would not check my cell phone. As for the seatbelt, he said my boyfriend just put it on while he was walking up to our car. We were both shocked and knew he stopped us because he needed to meet his monthly quota. In the end he said he'll only give us one ticket, which was the cell phone one because it would not give me any points on my license.
Today I went to court to fight the ticket, there were 4 other people whom this cop had given tickets to, everyone was either given a ticket for cell phone or seatbelt. How can I file a complaint on this liar?

"Fairness doesn't just happen. It requires the right government policies."

Somewhere when reading the constitution I missed the part about fairness. Is this a new leftist right?

We have a large kitchen diner with 2 windows, one of which looks directly into our neighbours kitchen (left side of the room) (so the blind is always closed), then one on the right side that looks into the garden. The neighbour on the right has just built a conservatory with normal windows all the way round.

Because the conservatory has been built about 3 or 4 foot from the 3foot fence (which belongs to the neighbour and has been erected in our land, not where it should have been), her windows look directly into our kitchen, into the only window that we could open the blinds on. The woman next door owns her house, we rent ours from the council and she hates us for it. She has told me that we are council scum because we don't own our house, so we can't speak to her about anything. She's really nosey and is always looking in now.

Is there not a law about invasion of privacy? The council are not helpful, as usual, so I need to give them the facts! Trouble is, I don't know them yet!

I'm a 22 year old college student, and my Dad co-signed my car. I parked in a no-parking zone, received a ticket, and paid it by check. My wallet went missing so my bank and I put a hold on all transactions. I called the Municipal court and they said it looked like my check had already cleared. I'm balancing my checkbook last week and it appears it had NOT cleared. I called the court today and they said it had been returned and that I now had a court date-- rather, my DAD had a court date plus a returned check fine. I'm very much okay with paying the returned fee (I feel badly about that situation), but my Dad is in Europe on business. They said that I could try to appear for him at 1:30 any day this week although the judge might not approve it, but otherwise were not very kind with me. I'm distraught because I don't know what to do, and I don't want my Dad to suffer because I parked poorly, especially to have to appear in court because of something I did. Will they arrest? Please help

I have a big problem, my ex-boyfriend had moved out of a house we lived in together for almost 2 yrs, Than when he moved into an apartment he lived in for almost a year, the landlady evicted him for some strange reason, so being the kind person I was and remembering things he had helped me out with, I told him he could live in the house I had continued to rent after he left. Now he's been here almost a whole year or a little more, and he's creating dangerous living conditions. He walks around with a loaded shotgun (to protect the chickens I have outside he says), he is drunk every night, smokes marijuana, has stolen licence plate and sticker for expiration, as well as inspection sticker on his automobile. He is a very dangerous person to cross, and I want him gone from my home as my daughter is expecting and he's been fighting with her while my husband and her fiance are at work. He's even faught verbally with our fellas. My name is the principal name on the lease, not his.

Nobody against the war in Iraq is debating the fact that Saddam Hussein was an evil, ruthless, maniacal tyrant, but why him? Why not any of the other evil dictators in the world, like the ones in Africa, South America, or Asia? Why not Kim Jong Il who actually HAD WMD's, admitted it, and isn't planning on getting rid of them anytime soon?

These are some of the responses I often hear, and my reply is quite simple,

"Other dictators have done that too."

Killed and tortured a ton of his own people.

Invaded another country.

Ignored the UN on something

Had WMD's at some point.

Supported some form of terrorism.

Is it actually possible for individuals to purchase conventional weapons, tanks and warplanes, and all the other things that constitute a nation's military from the private defense industries or somewhere else?

Not that I want to (anyway, it would be way too expensive, costing in the millions and billions), but I'm just curious to know, seen as though I'm currently learning about the arms trade. .

When we cannot even get rid of a despotic, anti-constitution, leader that 71% of the nation doesn't want???????????

I mean...we should be able to get rid of Bush...now...by any means necessary...right? Wouldn't that be democratic? I mean...the current methods are not really democratic, are they?

Do I contradict myself? Very well, I contradict myself. I am large, I contain multitudes.

If you know that what you are doing is breaking the law by parking in the wrong area, and you also are aware that by so doing this, you are subjecting yourself to getting a ticket from the Traffic Warden, why the hell do you people still do it, and why do you hate someone that is ONLY enforcing the traffic laws?
I asked this question, originally to see what all the comotion was about regarding these traffic wardens, and ALL of the replies that I got were from people that had knowingly broke the law. Do you also hate police officers for enforcing the laws? How about the mail man delivering the mail? The milkman or the Dog Catcher, is no public servant safe from being hated by the public?
When you knowlingly break the law and get caught and fined for doing so, rather than accept your punishment and not do it again, you take out your unjust anger on the person whoes job it is to enforce these laws and give you a ticket, when you should b mad at yourself for doing such a stupid thing!
