since i am 18, and if i have to be in a court case, do my parents have liability over me or since i am 18 can i represent myself and not have parents be in the case?

They say that the person who represents himself has a fool for a client -- and they say that to adults in the system. You are legally an adult and your parents definitely don't have to be involved, but it's still a good idea to get a lawyer.

If you are 18, and the laws of your state/country consider you an adult at 18 (or earlier), then your parents have no standing to get involved if you don't want them involved.

And in the US, you ca always represent yourself as an adult -- that doesn't mean it's always a good idea,

If you are age 18 or above, you may represent yourself in court but I would not advise you to be a pro se litigant; I would get the assistance of an attorney before I ever represented myself in court.

you have reached the age of consent, and are an adult, and can thus represent yourself, unless the legal action is based on an event that transpired when you were still a minor (under the age of 17).
