Our system is set up sooooo wrong!!!

How many U.S. soldiers need to risk their lives/and/or die to provide stock growth for U.S. citizens to secure their retirement?

One way or another nearly every publicly traded stock has an interest in the companies that make their money off of the U.S. Militarized Industrial Complex!!!

It's disgusting and takes advantage of our brave men and women in uniform!!!

How can you place someone with dreams and aspirations under a socialist government? I tell you that it will never work.

God has placed it inside of every being the potential to break barriers, smash glass ceilings and accomplish great things when man say it is impossible. You will always find the one person or persons that will stand out in a crowd, spread his wings and soar high above his peers.
It is not because the his peers were wronged but because he applied himself more aggressively when everyone else stopped to rest.

Should we penalize the over acheiver? Take away his accomplishments and give it to those that feel they've been cheated by life.
Of course not. But that what it looks like the liberals of this country now wants.

Big government = socialism

Socialism = trying to put a stop on what man can accomplish

Stopping man from acheiving = the downfall of a great nation

Please share.

This question specifically focuses on the impact that illegal immigrants have on the job market. I recently saw an article that proved the illegal immigrants have only positive/neutral impact on the job market. In the early 1990's the unemployment rate was 5.8% and there were only a couple million illegal immigrants in the country. Now the unemployment rate is 4.4% and there is 12-20 million immigrants. I don't remember which article it was but I am sure you can find the stats at census.gov or anywhere. Even African Americans went from 10.6% to 8.3% unemployment. Now, based on this alone, the trend seems to be that immigrants really do the jobs that americans don't want. And yes, there might be a few thousand people that lose their jobs, but the world is not perfect.

My question is based on this alone, don't you think it is logical to have illegal immigrants? we will always need people to do the unpleasant jobs, and most legal immigrants wont do it(nor americans).

John was walking towards his office on the sidewalk when suddenly he heard a gunshot. The police found him dead on the sidewalk one hour after the incident. They concluded that the bullet had hit his head and he died on impact. The police also caught the man responsible for the crime and acquired the high-powered rifle used in the crime.
What is wrong with this story?

It is apparent that the polititions of this country like to huff, puff and get re-elected. The serving President of the United States is guilty (self-profesed) of High Crimes and Misdemeanors.
How does the American public start impeachment proceedings? There must be a way... The founding fathers where patriots who would NEVER tolerate this abuse.
I know most Americans want to wait until 2008 and elect another lying (future) criminal. Let's impeach this one and tell the others to watch their P's and Q's.
The future of America (our children) is at stake.

"Jack Bauer saved Los Angeles. ... He saved hundreds of thousands of lives," Judge Scalia said. Then, recalling Season 2, where the agent's rough interrogation tactics saved California from a terrorist nuke, the Supreme Court judge etched a line in the sand.
"Are you going to convict Jack Bauer?" Judge Scalia challenged his fellow judges. "Say that criminal law is against him? 'You have the right to a jury trial?' Is any jury going to convict Jack Bauer? I don't think so.

"So the question is really whether we believe in these absolutes. And ought we believe in these absolutes."

This is bizarre on two different levels;

1. Scalia is Mr "strict interpretation" of the constitution. There is no privacy because it doesn't state it, no wall of separation. An absolutist.

2. He uses a fictional TV show as an argument to ignore the law. Here's a Jack Bauer tidbit;

"Tell me where the bomb is or I will kill your son."

And this flake is on the SCOTUS.

If a woman keeps on having more and more kids, and continues to leech off the system should the government have the right to order a woman to get her tubes tied? Believe me I am all for personal freedom, with minimal government interference in our lives, but if a woman who is irresponsible and has kids uncontrollably continues to milk the system, that is not fair to the tax payers, plus later on in life the probably of her kids turning into thiefs and killers is increased because of bad parenting......what im trying to get at is, at what point does a government have the right to infrindge on this womans personal privacy because doesn't the government have to look out for us taxpayers?

I recently relocated from NY to Chicago and left my job in NY to do so. In the middle of moving, I found out that I had thyroid cancer and had to have surgery. We're in Chicago now I'm eager to start a job search, but my doctor has advised against it for another month or so because I have to have a treatment which prevents me from being around people for 14 days because I will have to swallow a radioactive iodine pill. I'm really running low on money because the surgery kept me out of work longer than planned, and I was wondering if I would be able to collect unemployment. I'm thinkin' no, but I thought I'd just double check. It would only be for about another six weeks.

I'm also fully aware that I voluntarily left my job in NY, so that's working against me. I was more curious about the medical aspect of it. Thanks in advance.
