Are there laws against a man over-defending himself from a woman? Similar to the notion that if you self-defend with a gun against a knife, you have the advantage of further range and can be punished?
This has to do with the fact that my son has been raised on his father's time to beleive that:
A man can and should hit back as hard as need be when attacked by a female, even to a small degree.
Now most men I know feel that it is wrong to ever hit a woman, although restraining a woman to the point that she bruises herself while struggling is perfectly fine.
Self-defense, then, consists of doing just that.
Now, if we're talking about an Amazon woman attacking the artist Formerly and Now Once Again Known as Prince,
hey, you know what?
I'll throw this rule out, too!
But before I go trying to tell my twelve-year-old to change his views about women before he dates (and hurts someone!), I'd like to know if there are real-life consequences, to bolster my argument. Thanks!

The Senate voted 51-46 to reject a proposal by Sen. John Cornyn (news, bio, voting record), R-Texas, to bar criminals — including those ordered by judges to be deported — from gaining legal status. Democrats siphoned support from Cornyn's proposal by winning adoption, 66-32, of a rival version that would bar a more limited set of criminals, including certain gang members and sex offenders, from gaining legalization.

Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record), R-Ariz., alone among his party's presidential aspirants in backing the immigration measure, opposed Cornyn's bid and backed the Democratic alternative offered by Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass.

Everytime I watch the news about Paris being in jail there is always some "legal expert" being interviewed about the case. The "legal experts" always say that the punishment was way too harsh considering the crime wasn't so bad. They keep saying that she shouldn't have had to serve ANY jail time.

These "legal experts" say that other people that are guilty of the same crime usually only have to do community service. They also keep saying that the only reason she got such a harsh punishment is because she is a celebrity.

I tend to think that celebrities get away with murder (literally) and that it's about time one of them got more then a slap on the wrist. I don't think her punishment is too harsh (it seems fitting if you ask me).

Anyway, I just wanted to know if the "legal experts" are right and her punishment is too harsh.

Not talking about wage slavery or anything like that. I have heard it exists in Sudan, but I also have read articles about slaves in places like France working as housemaids. Is that really true? How does it happen?

I assume in the modern age these are exploited people and not individuals from wealthy nations being enslaved. I do not think it would be possible to enslave someone from a place like the US.

Mexico, which annually deports more illegal aliens than the United
States does, has much to teach us about how to handle immigration;
under Mexican law, it is a felony to be an illegal alien. As the
Supreme Court and politicians seek to bring U.S. law in line with
foreign legal norms, it's noteworthy that no one has argued that the
United States look at what Mexico might teach us about how to solve our
illegal-immigration problem. Mexico has a single, streamlined law,
seeking to ensure that foreign visitors and immigrants are: _ In the
country legally. _ Have the means to sustain themselves economically.

My son was pulled over for faulty equipment on his car. After the tickets were written the office said he acted nervous (who wouldn't) then asked to search his car and him. He had 1/2 oz of pot on him and now will be going to court for that. Several of his friends say that was entrapment and should get a lawyer. I think he just needs to go to court and admit his guilt. We live in Virginia. Any ideas or suggestions?

I sent my passport for renewal in the beginning of April, but did not expedite. It was taking 8-10 weeks, and my trip was 11 weeks away (June 20) so I thought I was safe. I leave in 13 days and still do not have my passport back.
I called the 877 # and finally spoke with a person at the NPIC. He took my information and said he would put in a request to expedite my passport. He then told me to call back Monday and check on it. He also told me he was not going to charge for it, since my application for renewal had been in the system for so long. He also did not ask if I wanted it sent overnight or anything (there are fees for all of this).
Has this happened to anyone else? Did you get the passport in time? How do I know if my passport is really getting expedited? If I find that it isn't when I call Monday, should I then make an appointment at the regional passport center? Can they help me even though I won't have my paperwork? I can't seem to get answers from the person at NPIC.

Let's see, John McCain was the only Republican yesterday to vote against the admendment to the Immigration Bill that would exclude FELONS from getting U.S. citizenship. He drafted the McCann-Feingold Bill for election reform (yea, that's really working). And last year he was part of a bi-partisan group of senators who tried to control who President Bush nominated to the Supreme Court.

I don't think he has a chance in Hades now of being even nominated for President, but does anyone think he can even get re-elected as senator again?

We move election day to the first weekend in November. Giving people 48 hours to vote.

We reform the Electoral College so that the winner of each Congressional District gets 1 electoral vote. The winner of the state gets the final 2 from the state.

Lastly, if you do not vote in a Fedral election, you cannot write off anything on your taxes until the next election (there will be a few exeptions but not for the healthy and able bodied). No mortgage interest write off, no child writie off, nothing. If in a married couple, and only one votes, thenonly half can be written off.

Just brainstorming....

I heard the mayor of Yuma Arizona say on the radio this morning that although he is oppossed to illegal immigration, he feels that legal immigration is absolutely necessary to conduct a three billion dollar a year farming industry.
What do you think about this statement? Should we encourage legal immigration, or close our boerders to everyone for a while?

Is this more or less the rules of propaganda, you just keep blindly repeating what you WANT to be the truth until enough people actually accept it?
Liberals never accept that Bill Clinton broke the law, they just keep repeating that the impeachment was about sex. They love a whistleblower, unless the whistleblower works for the Vice President.
It is the same with ALL their arguments, whether it be about gun ownership, economics, Communism, or whatever. They NEVER reason, but accept blindly what their masters say.
Does this indicate that they are mindless robots or evil creatures who KNOW but do not care about the consequences of their rhetoric?

Why are we so foolish to accept all the tax increases imposed on us by this goverment in the pretence that they care about green issues .why every local authority thinking about charging us for the services which were originaly covered by the rate, because this goverment has reduced thier subsidies. When are we going to say enough is enough and protest against screwing the working class, as these tax increases will not affect the upper class.
