Why are we so foolish to accept all the tax increases imposed on us by this goverment in the pretence that they care about green issues .why every local authority thinking about charging us for the services which were originaly covered by the rate, because this goverment has reduced thier subsidies. When are we going to say enough is enough and protest against screwing the working class, as these tax increases will not affect the upper class.

Maybe not all politicians care about green issues and its just a pretence, but at least some do. Right or left, people are increasingly coming to believe that environmental issues are important (no comment on whether they're right or wrong) and politicians are realising that if their country/s are to have a future, they have to think about the environment when thinking long term.

Complaining of taxation is an ancient and esteemed pastime... though I think as this world becomes increasingly overcrowded, we're all going to have to tighten our belts as this age of relative prosperity ends. Except for the super-rich, as you say, they can always avoid having to endure any hardships.

I don't know which country you're from and what taxes you're talking about, but yeah, any taxes can be annoying, especially when you think they're being wasted. Sometimes I agree with the view that the government's just the biggest protection racket of all...

Landfill is simply running out, we can't live by the same rules that we have. Everyone has to pay 10p on every £1 spent on disposable nappies, I resent having to pay that. Should I start a protest against mothers who use disposable nappies.

I do think the government and local authorities should reinvest any of the cash they get in 'green taxes' back into green projects. Where have the government reduced subsidies? I was under the assumption that they are penalising local authorities for going over their quota for landfill. Do we want to start buring our rubbish instead. Really the question should be should we be protesting against companies that create too much waste. Look at the packaging on much of our food, it is not needed.

I live in a very working class area and we have fortnightly refuse collection after an inital period of getting used to it, people are now recycling more.

The C charge in London is a bit of a moot point I must agree the money rasied here should go back into public transport. If it gets taken up by other authorities then I would love to see cheaper buses and trains as a result.

It would help if you said what country you are in, or what country you are complaining about.
