You guys all have GPS (I think) and that makes it easy to know where you are. But someone must make the adjustment to tell the FACAIR or fire direction control(FDC) where the enemy is. In the 60s and 70s after determining where we wanted a fire mission, we would call for a fire mission by stating a grid location for ourselves and a distance and direction from our location to the enemy with a word about the type of enemy situation (troops in open, enemy in bunkers, etc). The FDC would calculate the offsets using triangulation techniques with the 'old' rotary calculator and give the munitions type, range and azimuth to the batteries and they would fire. Then, noting where the rounds fell, we would adjust by stating the distance movements needed to be on target relative to our location and how many rounds we wanted. How does this work now. And quit laughing at me. We actually killed a few. It seems so primitive now. Oh, can an LT or Sgt call fire now? Average rounds to on target now? Air?

I do not believe that these people can ever be helped and I know it sounds barbaric but surely they should be put on an island (or somewhere similiar) where they cannot escape. If they were also sterilized it would stop them breeding and the genetics being carried forward. This would isolate the problem as they always reoffend.

For a few years now, Republics have been calling the Democrat Party, Democrat Party. The public doesn't seem to notice this but inside Washington, it's a known method of trying to take a 'jab' at Democrats.

I noticed it on Nov 8 in Bush's speech right after the Democrats had just won the majority... I remember thinking when I heard it, "Ok.. he doesn't want to work together.. he has no intentions of working with the Democrats..."

Now, he did it again in the State of the Union speech and is saying he didn't mean to.

"Bush didn't intend to insult Democrats: Snow"

http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=politicsNews&storyid=2007-01-29T163943Z_01_N29180566_RTRUKOC_0_US-BUSH-DEMOCRATS.xml&src=rss

"In his speech last Wednesday, Bush declared to a joint session of the U.S. Congress that "I congratulate the Democrat majority." Some Democrats were incensed he did not say "Democratic." The party's proper name is the Democratic Party."

Accident or not?

I'm Repub. and think Cheney should resign for "health reasons" he is too much baggage to carry for 2 more years. I feel a new VP could also gain the 08 Rep.Nomination and possibly win.
If you think Cheney should resign, pls state why and what party you normally align with. Lets get as many answers, as possible and then forward them to the White House. Repubs/Dems/Indies/ Lets all make our voices heard on this issue!!

I was informed that poverty levels are among the highest in the US in comparison to other countries (Switzerland, Amsterdam, Germany ect.. (for those who need some examples)). In addition, the US gov't aid goes mostly to the richest 3% of the population, such as tax deductions. Should Republicans or President Bush be held accountable? Why or Why not? Or do we blame the poor for being poor?
P.S.For those who use emotions for answers, please just remember, I'm just asking a question (food for thought).
Thank You.

Background:

There's an overcrowing crisis in the UK's prison system. The Home Secretary wrote to all judges telling them to only send VIOLENT PERSISTENT criminals to jail. Since then, 2 convicted paedophiles have been released on bail because there's not enough room in prison.

Lindis Percy is a 64-year-old Quaker, grandmother and retired midwife. She has been sent to jail for refusing to pay a £50 fine for peacefully protesting outside a US Spy Base at Menwith Hill nr Harrogate in North Yorkshire, UK. The spy base listens in on millions of people's phone calls. Despite the fact that it's on UK soil, the British Government has no control or oversight over it + is not allowed access to any intelligence it might produce. Lindis Percy has been campaigning for the base to be accountable to Parliament so that innocent people aren't spied on.

Is she really SO dangerous that she should be sent to jail when paedophiles aren't?

Masonic symbology is all around us. It is incorporated into all our lives without our knowledge or consent. It is incorporated into the education system even down to the number of years we spend in education(13 years-13 being a very important masonic number). After all, what do you recieve at the end of universatiy but a degree or your 1 st degree of freemasonry-why do you think you have the black robe and square mortar- its all masonic. When you start to understand how their symbology is a hidden secret language and your able to see how much power and influence these people hold (and im not talking about so called blue masonry or the freemason lodge you might have in your local village or town) then you start to give it serious thought as to where and who their true alleigance lies-2/3 american presidents were and are freemasons (Bush family are no exception),Tony Blair 33rd degree freemason?

My roommate was arrested this weekend for breaking three car windows in front of a house party. There was no theft attempt, he was just really really wasted. Apparently he blew a .29 bac. I know this guy, he really is a genuinely good dude, but he was completely blacked out and broke over $800 worth of property. In 2002 he got his 3rd dwi, but has been without incident with the law since then.
He is a student in college here at the University, is a 3.0+ student, has an internship for marketing and has a lot going for him.
He was charged with felony criminal damage to property. I am going to say a few things on his behalf in court and ask that he can be put on probation and put in some sort of alcohol program. I'm really scared for him that they are going to put him in jail and he'll have to drop out of college.

I am wondering if the judge would have some leniancy and let him repay everyone, pay a fine, and plea bargain to a lessser crime providing he stays sober? Thanks.

In Oct. '06 I was pulled over for a DUI (stupidity on my part). I was taken in fingerprinted and then released to a friend to take me home and there was no bail.

It has now been almost 5 months and I have not recieved a ticket or been summoned to court. According to the County Clerk: Criminal Records Division they have no information on anything being filed against me.

My question is: Do I still have to pay the fines to get my liscence back since I have not been charged with anything? Will I still be required to get DUI plates for my car? Whatever happened to a fair and SPEEDY trial?

I know I am guilty for the DUI but, this seems unfair for me to wait all this time and not even recieve a ticket. Any information would be helpful or even a website that might answer these questions. Thank you in advance.

Case Study: Presently in UK, the christain adoption agencies has decided shut down if the government makes it illegal [under racial and sexual discrimination laws] for them to turn away gay couples. Homosexuality goes against core orthodox christian values and rather than go against their convictions and obey the law, these agencies are willing to withdraw their services....
Bear in mind that this law has the tendency for government to force their idea of morality on people. The church seeks exemption from having to place children with gay families but does not fanatically oppose gay adoption.
Do you think they deserve special treatment simiply becos of their beliefs? OR should the govt's law override beliefs and other convictions?

For the people in the government to say others are cruel to animals when they euthanize them? What is that? Is that being humane? I don't think so. So the very people who slap others a huge fine should also be fined for animal cruelty themselves. Euthanization is animal cruelty. And you cannot escape the guilt and fault of that. We can't treat animals like thrash and just kill them if nobody wants them. This is what tax payers are paying for? Paying someone to pretend like they are all compassionate and love animals only to euthanize them? I'm not blind. Although I do agree that anyone who is cruel to animals should be punished, the government has no right to cry "animal cruelty"! They are part of the game.
