In Oct. '06 I was pulled over for a DUI (stupidity on my part). I was taken in fingerprinted and then released to a friend to take me home and there was no bail.

It has now been almost 5 months and I have not recieved a ticket or been summoned to court. According to the County Clerk: Criminal Records Division they have no information on anything being filed against me.

My question is: Do I still have to pay the fines to get my liscence back since I have not been charged with anything? Will I still be required to get DUI plates for my car? Whatever happened to a fair and SPEEDY trial?

I know I am guilty for the DUI but, this seems unfair for me to wait all this time and not even recieve a ticket. Any information would be helpful or even a website that might answer these questions. Thank you in advance.

Never did pay any fines, but I know it will be about $700 in total fines to get my liscence back if I was charged with a DUI. All they did was clip it after they proscessed me at the jail before my friend picked me up.

They impounded my vehicle and removed the plates, so I will have to pay to get those back.

Lucky for you, my friend, you are good to go. If there was nothing filed against you, you have nothing on your record and as such, there is no record of DUI. You most likely will still have to pay the price to get a license, but no DUI plates or anything. Check below, though, to be sure.

Something here seems to be missing.

You said: "Do i still have to pay the fines to get my license back?"

Have you been paying fines? If you have been paying fines...to whom? That would be the first place I'd start asking these questions.

You said: "...to get my license back!"

Was your license taken? If your license was taken...there may be a special means of which this specific case was handled without a court appearance.

Even though no records exist with the county clerk..you may still wish to contact the state police agency who would be the ones that issue or reject issuance of a drivers license.

If you've been paying a fee to the state...they MIGHT not have suspended or revoked your license since you are making payments.

Before you take the advise of something off the internet...go directly to the source of these issues who will have first knowledge of where you stand with this issue.

Best wishes!
