I do not believe that these people can ever be helped and I know it sounds barbaric but surely they should be put on an island (or somewhere similiar) where they cannot escape. If they were also sterilized it would stop them breeding and the genetics being carried forward. This would isolate the problem as they always reoffend.

I agree, you just don't know who is who and any number of perverts could be living on my estate. It worries me a lot. I am so paranoid that I stop my kids from playing outside unless they are with an adult, I know it's stupid 'cos statistically it's highly unlikely for an offender to attack a stranger but you never know do you ?
I don't think they can be cured either - peodophiles have the highest re-offending rate, your views are not barbaric, but I don't know what the answer is really, I mean, prison obviously has no effect, nor does 'community rehabilitation', but why should we tolerate these monsters in our society ? What is the answer ?

It's precisely BECAUSE of these barbaric regulations and outcasting rules that sex offenders have gone "missing." In many states, the restrictions are so severe there is no place in a town that sex offenders can live. Their options, then, are to live out in a rural area (where there are no jobs) or simply break the law and not report.
Iowa's probation and law enforcement officers, actually, are asking for the legislature to loosen the laws slightly because there's no correllation that it's done anything to prevent reoffending (residency restrictions are not "loitering restrictions") and it's just made more people go under the radar.
"Stop breeding and the genetics being carried forward." So any people that have traits that you don't like shouldn't carry forward those traits. People who drive drunk pose a terrible risk on our roads. If we castrate them, there's less likelihood that future generations of alcoholics would be driving. Does that sound like a good idea to you?

While rates of reoffending are higher with some classes of sex offenders (such as truly pathological, psychopathic offenders) your statement that "they always reoffend" is extremely overbroad. It's thinking like this that has led a 17 year old boy in prison for 10 years for having consensual sex with a 14 year old in Florida. And he will be branded a sex offender for life, with residency restrictions and everything. These broad generalizations have made some people, who have made small mistakes (possession of small amounts of certain kinds of porn, sex with a person one year too young, etc.), impossible to be citizens.
Yes, violent, serious sex offenders are bad. They hurt people. They ruin lives. But don't ball up every person into a category that you know nothing about. And think before you propose the very fascist remedies of things like forced sterilization on the entire populous.

You probably have more better odds winning the lottery two months in a row than meeting a sex offendor. I suggest you stop reading parnoid stories in the Daily Mail etc and/or alternatively, why not look for a remote island as a new home.

Actually, I'd vote for a very LEAKY boat with no life saving devices on board and send them to an island in the Atlantic ocean (the trip departs in January)

I agree with you, only i feel they should be castrated. Once and for all sort out the problem for the pain they have caused woman. I don't mind sounding barbaric, they act like barbarians they get treated like one.

We really should castrated them..especially the repeated ones who has stated that they will continue to do what they do. Seriously why do we let these ppl continue to traumatize others and ruin peoples lives?
