I'd really like to find people who are truly interested in honest debate instead of using Mass Media hyperbole, name calling, and inaccurate or untrue information. Are there any intelligent people out there, who can truly have an honest discussion?

There is proof that passive smoking is harmful so surely it is a basic human right not to be poisoned by other peoples smoke so how can they(smokers) moan about having their human rights infringed? and surely it is a step in the right direction giving out the message to youngsters that smikng isn't socially accepted? btw ( I am a smoker but I respect other peoples rights) I simply have no argument. What right do I have to harm other peoples health?So just what is the pro smokers argument?

I just completed the framming of my new home. I now find out that the neighbor across the street from me doesn't like the way my house is positioned on my lot. She doesn't like the fact that when she looks out her front door, she can see my garage. She filed a complaint with the Homeowners Assoc. The Assoc is telling me that i'm in violation of the covenant and that they want me to stop construction on my home. Their claim is the subdiv was designed so that whatever street you live on, the front of your house should face that street. I'm on a corner lot and i'm building so that my garage faces my street. The only thing the covenant states is "all houses should have side or rear entry garages". They are telling me that this law justifies me being in violation with my garage facing the street of my address instead of the front door. This law has nothing to do with the position of my house. This law refers to the specs on my home. Do they have a case? What should I do?

I'm not sure what position I want to take in the Air Force and what way to go, ROTC, Officer Training School?
I'm in high school in my junor year. I plan to major in Political Science and/or International Relations and learn a couple languages. Maybe the CIA needs a couple international relations analysts.
Anyways, will they accept me if I want to major in a non-technical subject for the ROTC? My grades got messed up at the first 2 years to an average when I didn't have much direction in my future and life. So that really hurts my chances.
And what requirments are in Officer Training School?
I haven't talked to a recruiter yet, but I can't really visit one if my parents don't really approve of me in the military. Heard I needed parent permission to speak with a recruiter if I'm a minor.
I had always had this urge for the flying and jets since I was little when I used to hear and feel the Blue Angels roar and shake my windows as they go by. Didn't realize it till just months ago.

I am trying to get my city councilmember, Ed Reyes to change the noise law, Chapter 11, Article 5, Section 115.02b. It exempts churches from the noise code. So right now they can be as loud as they want whenever they want.
Divine Savior Church in Cypress Park put up an amplied sound system that blasts a tape recording of their organ music, chimes and bells from 4 bullhorns on top of the church. They blast it 7 times a day everyday of the week. It is very loud and annoying. The priest has also refused to lower the volume or make any changes. LAPD cannot do anything. I need a change in the law. Ed Reyes told me he will not change the law. So, I am stuck hearing 4 bullhorns into my home all day every day.

Please, please help me STOP THE BULLHORNS!!!

My first thought when I heard about the execution of Saddam in Irag, was that they somehow staged it, or got a look-a-alike, to take his place, in order to keep him alive. What do you think?
