I'm wondering what the thoughtful arguments are against stem cell research. I have been watching and reading up on it and am having a hard time understanding why people oppose it. It "seems" that once you shoot down most of the arguments, people fall on the one of using tax dollars for research, they oppose the use of tax dollars being used for the research. But our government funds research of all kinds that is beneficial to us all, so this seems like a hollow argument that is being used just to keep from admitting you might be on the wrong side of the issue??

Why don't we just poll from the american people instead?
With the electoral college, many american votes do not count in my opinion. The electors votes are what counts. Evidence of this is the 2000 elections where Al gore won the votes of majority of the americans yet because Bush won the electoral votes. He was appointed as our fearless leader. I believe that the electoral college should be taken out becauee it wastes time and many. we have to poll the american people any way in both cases. We might as well do it directly,

I am a Democrat. I favor unions, living wages and education. I believe we should bear arms if we do so responsibly and I believe in a balanced budget. I served in the Marine Corps in a place far far away. I support our troops. I just don't support the reasons for our being in Iraq. Why is common ground so hard to find? We all, basically, want the same things: A strong vibrant nation that we can all be proud of with employment and opportunity for all.

Such a question may sound glib, but I think it's still worth asking.
Is it simply a matter of who has the campaign funds?

Or is it more a matter of people's unconscious masochism;Clinging to whomever wields the whip of capitalist induced classism in stockholm style fashion.

Your thoughts please.................
