At first we had only despotism.

Then we had monarchies and emperors, with the rare democracy of Athens and Republic in Rome. But both were not like today's 'democracy'.

Then we had liberal monarchies.

Now we have "democracies".

But they are not really democracies. They are plutocracies, where only the wealthy can be CANDIDATES, and govern.

Do you agree with this? And isn't this wrong?

And when can we expect real representative democracy on this planet?

A decision by China to shift a major portion of its reserve to the euro or the yen or gold could trigger other central banks to follow suit. Nobody would want to be left behind holding a bagfull of dollars rapidly turning worthless. The herd psychology would be very difficult to control in this case because national economic survival would be at stake.

Democrat or Republican, Liberal or Conservative, why in the world would you support such a bill. If our gov't determines that a U.S citizen is an unlawful combatant then he/she can be arrested for any reason without a warrant thrown into a prison camp and not be allowed a trial. They do not even have to have any evidence of a crime. We need to stand up to this. This country is turning into a fascist prison state. Before you deny that this can happen read the Military Commisions Act. What else will we have to give up in the name of 9/11.

My husband is getting ready to join the Navy. We currently pay child support for his daughter. Question is: When he enlists and starts getting paid, how does the military figure up the child support? His recruiter said that the courts can not consider the BAH and food allowance "income" therefore can't be considered when figuring child support. He said that they will take 20% of his base pay. Is this true? And, how does visitation work with cases like this. We will moving to another state I am sure. We currently have his daughter every other weekend from Fri-Sun and one overnight per week. We live in Illinois. Thanks for the help!!

Our resolve to war or patiortism and the defence of our country has been weaken by liberals that think anything goes and what ever make's you feel good is the word of the day. What the minority want's is to control the majority! In the Vietnam war two Democrat Presidents got us into the war and it was a Republican President that got us out. It's a shame 80% of the punks complaining about the war are non-participants and are going to schools that have left-wing professors,yet most of our troops come home saying were doing alot of good in Iraq and the re-enlistment numbers are up! So who's right the Army & Marines on the front line, or the liberal press and their sheep followers?

My daughter just graduated from Navy Basic Training. I might say the transformation blew me away. She made it through, it was tough, and now she is very motivated to succeed in A-school.
I know the possibility is good that she might be deployed to Iraq, and I am scared to death of the thought. I know I shouldn't borrow trouble (as my mom used to say), and I want to show her support in every way I can. I don't want to show my fear or worry of her going, if the time ever comes. Anyone else have thoughts to share? I would love to hear from you. We could keep a parental circle going and keep in touch, exchange emails for support and friendship.
