One main purpose of the United Nations is to provide international support in order to settle global conflicts.

So the UN steps in and tells Israel they will provide a group of international peace keeping troops to monitor a 'buffer zone' helping protect the border; thereby, trying to keep peace in that area.

Now a new problem that no one expected has come up... nobody wants to get involved (they don't want to send troops) stating that would get them in the middle of what they see as a mess in the Middle East created by Bush.

Example, France is going to send some international troops but stated only a minimal amount and said publicly it is very concerned about being drug into Bush's mess in the middle east.

Other countries have flat-out refused to send any troops for the same reason.

Bush stated he does not want to send troops because that will pull too many Islamic Fascist (his words) into that region.

Seems to me we have a dilemma. If the UN can't back up promises then what??

On Friday I received a letter from my landlord notifying me that I would have to begin paying for electricity starting 9/18. Previously, all utilities were included as part of my rent. This is a non-trivial expense, as the outer walls of my apartment are non-heat resistant glass and I live in the desert. It takes a lot of power to cool my apartment when the sun is coming through the glass in summer, and conversely it takes a lot of power to warm my apartment in winter with uninsulated glass walls.

My current rent is higher than market value, but much of that extra cost was offset by the fact that utilities were included in my rent. This point was discussed when I originally signed my lease, and the fact that utilities are included in the rent was used as a selling point by the building manager when I was shown my apartment. In my view, under the new policy I will have to pay for electricity twice: once via my above market value rent, and once again directly to the power company. Since I was not informed of this change in policy when I resigned my lease, and since it was explained that part of my monthly rental payments covered utility expenses, I feel my rent should be lowered commensurate with the amount I have to spend on electricity each month for the remainder of my current lease.

I have checked my rental agreement, and I’m not sure exactly what to make of the relevant clause because it makes no mention of electricity, and I’m not sure what to make of the “similar residents” line. It states:

“The utilities customarily provided by the landlord are sewage, water, maintenance and waste removal. In case of error or modification, the renter shall provide and pay for the same utilities that similar residents are required to pay for.”

So do the residents of my building and I have a legal argument here?

Thanks for reading.

Okay I'm up in the night eating the food of the gods, (milk and cookies) I hear a strange whooshing noise. It's the water heater coming to life. Yess I'm poor white trailer trash. So the water heater is going and I say to myself. DUDE do I need hot water right now? I answer myself. DUDE I really don't think so!!!!!!Now if I could time my water heater to give me hot water when I need it and all of America could do the same with the heaters my bud Bill donated how much energy would America save. Also would that make Bill a really cool guy plus he's about the only one with the money to pull it off

I've been saying there is no sanctuary and that hiding illegals is illegal, and here is an article saying earlier people involved with churches in 'the sanctuary movement' [there is a 'sanctuary movement?'] were arrested for it previously.

"Some churches across the country are quietly giving sanctuary to illegal immigrants trying to keep their families from being torn apart by deportation, said Fife, leader of the Sanctuary movement, which sheltered thousands of Central American civil war refugees in American churches and synagogues more than 20 years ago.
None of the churches are in Tucson, he said.
In 1986, Fife and seven others in the Sanctuary movement were convicted on federal charges of transporting and concealing illegal entrants. He received five years' probation. "

So i am watching a program on the discovery channel about over crowding in urban areas and they are discussing making huge buildings over double the height and four times the width of any building in existance today. This would help with overcrowding in the city. my question is since mankind is approaching this problem now do you think populaton control sounds like a good idea? Not like China does with forced abortions, but maybe with tax based incentives for not having children and penalties for having more than three. I know there is pleanty of room in this world but dont really want to see it all taken up by urban sprawl.

I have a felony on my record from 5 years ago that's not violent or drug-related. I'm good at office work so I applied to attorneys for office positions. I thought they may be more open-minded to giving someone a second chance and they deal with people in need of legal help and/or criminals all the time so they wouldn't look down at the person as much as someone else might. They're not law firms, just general practice attorneys. Does anyone know if lawyers/attorneys will hire someone with a felony record?

LEE HARVEY OSWALD!! Americans need to move on. There was no damn conspiracy. Oswald acted alone without any help.

Watch the Peter Jennings program and see for yourself. Also, check out John McAdams JFK Assassination website. It's the best out there.
