Blacks make up 10% of the population yet more than 50% of the prison population. For Hispanics it is about the same.

The United States incarcerates more people per 1000 than any other country in history, even more than South Africa at the height of Apartheid!!

I believe we have a biased police force, drug laws, and justice system and we still live in a very racist society - it may not be as blatant as 60 years ago, but we are swimming in subtle racism every day. (aka Sentencing guidelines for Crack vs. Powder Cocaine)

California incarcerates more people than any other state (and more than a lot of other countries!) with Texas running a close 2nd. Texas executes more than any other state, yet their prisons continue to grow!! California has excuted 4 people this year already (2 more are in the works)!!

What do you think would fix the justice system and the prison problem in California/USA?

IMMIGRANTS,
NOT AMERICANS,
MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However...... the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans...... we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.

Are we monitoring churches to look for terrorist activity?

Personally, apart from the government having bigger fish to fry, I think that it's the nanny state going mad. I fully understand that not everyone likes to be in smoky atmospheres, so why not have non-smoking pubs? (Obviously, no-one would ever go to them and the landlords would lose money, but what does that tell you?) Clearly, family pub-restaurants should be non-smoking as children do not have a say in where they go and the need to be protected, but as far as I'm concerned, children don't belong in regular pubs anyway and any adult who goes in makes an informed choice to be there. Can you imagine the chaos that it will cause if night clubs are non-smoking - thousands of drunk and stressed-out people will be out on the roads at any one time - the fights will be uncontrollable.
I for one am sick of being patronised by New Labour liberalism - how about you lot?

Although I post questions and answers in politics I don't live to do just this. I post as much in Arts, Religion, Science, etc.

However, there are some regulars in Yahoo Politics who tag along after me, who follow me into other forums, from Books & Authors to Religion, to post personal insults.

I suppose, with people like John Skerry who do this, it's because I don't support their political views. Stalking should be reported, shouldn't it? But on the other hand I am a little flattered that they're that concerned about me telling my version of the truth that they feel they need to stalk me.

Any of you have your own little Yahoo stalkers?

why is there no mainstream political party or forthright politician supporting them? I'd vote for anyone who wanted to end all the PC nonsense. At the moment, all I can think of doing in the next election is spoiling my ballot. You can't even have a religious Christmas card on your desk at work, for goodness' sake, in case someone takes offense! Even most of the ethnic minorities don't support it and personally, I think it's patronising to them as well as offensive to us! There is even a law which has recently been passed which states that you can be arrested for wearing / saying something which can be subjectively construed as offensive. I am offended by burkhas and what they symbolise, but I am pretty sure that MY concern wouldn't be enforced. If I wore a t-shirt, however, which said "I find burkas offensive", you can bet your **** I'd get arrested!
The whole country's gone mad for the sake of a few nutters who want to kill us all anyway and the tofu-muchers who work in the council!

, "Deceive me, pleeeease!"
Obviously the liberal American media is begging the anti-Jewish Muslims, "Deceive me, pleeeease!".
Why? Because they appeal to the liberal anti-semetic popluation and they WANT to be deceived.
