IMMIGRANTS,
NOT AMERICANS,
MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However...... the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans...... we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.

We speak ENGLISH , not Spanish , Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!
If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle.
Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we
will allow you every opportunity to do so!
But once you are done complaining....... whining...... and griping...... about our flag....... our pledge...... our national motto........or our way of life....I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other Great American Freedom.......
THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.
Will you leave or adapt?

I believe if you were born in the United States of America you have a rite to vote. But if you do not vote or cannot vote you do not have the rite to say diddly squat. Leave your culture, society and language at home. My father was very strict about these things:
1.- No spanglish
2.- Speak only English in public
3.- You may speak Spanish at home.
END OF DISCUSSION.

I agree unless these illegals start assimilating they will turn this nation into a 3rd world country. Not assimilating means their no better from when they left the country that they were in. We keep hearing jobs Americas want do, what it really means jobs American want do that will not provide a future instead of a temporary solution illegals are going to find out at a certain age these employers will want younger faster workers when their left with nothing but dead end jobs they will get it adjudted into their heads to what we are saying.

I have to agree with you on this. I have no problem with anyone who legally wants to move to America, but I think they need to understand we have our own way of life and if they don't want to be part of that, then they should stay where they are. We are living in Italy right now because my husband is Military and we're stationed here, and I would no more expect the Italians to change their lifestyles, their rules, their culture or their laws to accommodate me or any other American here. I'm in their country, and I need to adapt to their way of life, or I can go back home to the States, or never leave my house here! I have that choice! I don't expect the Italians to know English, but they have every right to expect for me to know Italian. Again, this is their home, their country.
You can read anything I have ever answered on Illegal aliens. I'm not like many people who think they are all bad and no good, and that they are what is wrong with America, so nobody can accuse me of being prejudice or anything. I understand somebody wanting to live in America! I've been all over the world, and I have seen so many beautiful places, met wonderful people, and I have learned about other cultures, but when it comes down to it, I can't wait to get back to the US because I think it's the greatest place in the world to live. But I feel like if someone wants to make a life there, they need to learn English, even for their own sake they need to learn it! And they need to understand we have our own culture and way of life, and they shouldn't feel we need to change our lives for them.

You go on and preach it my friend. You are absolutely correct! Great post.
As for the one dork whose reply included that standard, stale, and misinformed rhetorical line, "We are all immigrants," I have this to say:
I am not an immigrant. I was born here. Following your line of thinking, everyone in the world with the exception of those born in the cradle of civilization, are immigrants. Do you really believe that there are any countries, other than the United States of America, expected to accept anyone who wants to cross their borders? There are currently 6,526,491,030 people in the world, give or take a dozen. Of that number, approximately 300,000,000 would emigrate to the United States if given the opportunity. The notion of accepting that many people into this country is ridiculous. Our infrastructure would collapse under the weight of so many people, and our environment would be completely destroyed by the additional demands for housing, electricity, roads, oil, jobs, etc. However, all of those people have their own culture and their own way of thinking that they would be bringing with them. How much diversity can one country be expected to accept before it implodes?
You come to my country LEGALLY, become an American, and you'll be accepted. Why is that such a difficult concept for you bleeding heart multiculturalists to grasp? I shouldn't have to press one for English, and I shouldn't have to fear that the cultural identity of the country I love will be erased before my children even reach adulthood.

They should assimilate into our culture. That is what their respective cultures expect immigrants into their countries to do.

the great thing about being an "American" is having the liberty and freedom of not having to ADAPT to what you think an American is.....
in my eyes being an American is speaking more than one language, embracing more than one culture, and living on the threshold of two countries.....
i don't have to limit my lifestyle to limited, myopic, and reductionistic view of what an American is.....
and guess what??? i am very much the patriot that you claim to be... the difference is i don't have to say it!!!
so chill out... having a corona, eat some fish tacos, watch a foreign movie, and open your mind and your heart!!!! comprendes???
