Are the government simply public servants put in place by the people to run the country in a way that people want?

Should the government distribute taxes to provide for the populace (housing, healthcare, public transport, income support for those who can't earn enough)?

Does the government have the right to impose unpopular laws on the populace?

Do political ideology and democracy work together, or does this marriage result in politicians being more concerned about furthering their own ideals rather than doing what is best for the people?

Should people who subscribe to a political ideology be allowed to hold office?

A BIG THANK YOU TO J D FOR THESE excellent precednets!

The courts of the USA have already decided, many times, in fact, that children born to non-citizens ARE NOT CITIZENS even if born on American soil!

Should a few Americans file a class action suit for flagrant disregard of the law?

The Fourteenth Amendment EXCLUDES the children of aliens.
(The Slaughterhouse Cases (83 U.S. 36 (1873))

The Fourteenth Amendment draws a distinction
between the children of aliens and children of citizens.
(Minor v. Happersett (88 U.S. 162 (1874))

The phrase "subject to the jurisdiction"
REQUIRES "Direct And Immediate ALLEGIENCE"
to the United States, NOT just physical presence.
(Elk v. Wilkins 112 U.S. 94 (1884))

There is NO automatic birthright citizenship in a particular case.
(Wong Kim Ark Case, 169 U.S. 649 (1898))

The Supreme Court has NEVER confirmed birthright citizenship for the children of illegal aliens, temporary workers, and tourists.
(Plyler v. Doe, 457 U.S. 202, 211 n.10 (1982)

I don't see it causing any severe health problems and you cannot OD on it. Alchohol and smoking are much more dangerous than this plant. May be it is time it becomes legal?

Then again if it is legalized kids will get easier access to it and that'll be a bad thing. Kids shouldn't focus their time smoking marijuana.

Take into consideration all the bad things happening in the world today and you decide if it is the unknown statements of famous astronomer Nostrodonamous or reality of Revelations in the Bible or do you think all of the Worlds problems are the devil and God at war creating havoc. Christains and Jews say Jesus is coming and Athiests believe its the end of the world. What do you think?

"I am shocked and deeply distressed by the apparently deliberate targeting by Israeli Defence Forces of a UN observer post in southern Lebanon"
"The co-ordinated artillery and aerial attack on a long established and clearly marked UN post ... occurred despite personal assurances given to me by (Israeli) Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that UN positions would be spared Israeli fire."

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan 7/25/06

"But you need to look at the events of yesterday,” he urged. “The shelling of the UN position, which is long-established and clearly marked, started in the morning and went on till after 7:00 p.m., when we lost contact.”

“You can imagine the anguish of the soldiers and the men and women – unarmed military observers – who were down there in the service of peace,” he said, stressing that the peacekeepers were in frequent touch with the Israeli army, pleading with them to avoid striking their location"

Is it because they haven't seen the destructive effects of war on their own soil? Europe has seen and experienced the destruction first hand, how it destroys cities, farmlands, factories, bridges, roads and so on. Most Americans have no idea of the havoc it wreaks. To them war is some soldiers fighting some people far away from home and their homes don't get affected. Is that why such a large fraction of Americans root for war?

I live in Colorado where the state passed a law banning smoking indoors. Many bar/restaurant owners are suffering because of the new policy.

Shouldn't a business owner decide what policies are acceptable (or not) in their establishment ? If there is a need for non-smoking businesses, shouldn't we let the free enterprise market determine that ?

I know they are middle easterners because whenever they refer to Arabs, Middle east, or Israelis they say us or we. I was just wondering whether most of the anti israel sentiment is being said by Arabs and Pro-Israel Sentiment by Israelis. Its something I would like to ask.
