The case that the warrant is for will show up so worry about that not the warrant itself.

Doco is correct in his description of a warrant but whether the warrant will show depends entirely on the background check the company runs and if it is a current warrant. Like others have said, if your job requires you to handle, say, sensitive info or money if the warrant is current and criminal it will most likely pop on the check. Most background checks, even in non secure positions, include a current warrant search these days.

If you or a friend has an active warrant, I wouldn't worry about what the job finds. There's more important business to take care of...like that warrant.

A warrant is a writ from a court commanding a bona fide agent of the court to perform specified acts ... and in this case, apprehend the named defendant so that said defendant may answer to the charge(s) specified in the writ. A conviction search done by employers or prospective employers will not reveal that writ. Everyone is allowed due process of the law.

No. They are not considered the same thing. Some warrents are only considered civil and would not mean anything at all. It would not come up on a back-round check for a company though. So I have been told through the court system.

depends on what the company is searching for and how important security is to that company. here in las vegas they search and find everything because they have such a big emphasis on security. other places may just look for things that may affect your job. like a dui if your job requires you to drive. in las vegas you even have to list speeding/parking tickets when you apply for a job. if nothing ever came of the warrant (as in no arrest) then it may not be on your record. you can check that with the police dept.

Its not the same thing. However, it may be just as bad. Is it a current warrant? How was the case resolved?
