My pet house rabbit is now 16/17 weeks old. He usually has pellets, fresh water and as much hay as he wants daily. He has had a couple of rabbit treats over the past week.

Today he has managed to escape from his hutch and has munched on banana & orange out of the fruit bowl (left apple & pineapple) he has eaten a few leafs from my house plant (Madagascian dragon tree) a few pieces of chocolate out of the selection box he demolished, as well as my electric bill and a pair of shoe laces. He also peed on every chair of a leather settee. Ate/shredded tinsel and managed to get some baubles off tree!

He is fine and doesnt seem to be ill in fact he is extremely lively or is he hiding any potential illness?. Should i now be introducing fruits veg to his diet? I thought he wouldnt/shouldnt eat chocolate? I have phoned the vet and left message but he has not got back to me so thought would ask here. He has not had any vaccinations yet either as booked in next week. Thanks for your advice

I've heard alot about them mistreating their ferrets in many ways, but I can't believe it until find out myself. I know alot about ferrets, I have 5 myself, and me, my mom & my aunt foster them, but my aunt fosters up to over 30 ferrets at once, which makes her kind of an expert, along with myself. I really want to know the truth, so I'd really appreciate it if someone could show me a site or something that had proof.

I want to bring my rabbit inside for the winter but I have three cats. I want to keep my rabbit in an indoor cage and there isn't any chance that the cats could get through the bars and harm him, but they may may sit there just looking at him. Will this freak my rabbit out having cats staring (possibly licking their lips?!)? Im not really up on rabbit psychology

okay so i am going to buy a horse within the next month... it is now between two ponies... but the thing is is that i am tall. i am 5'5 but only weigh 100 pounds.. so i guess i look smaller. one of the ponies is 14 hands and the other is close to 14.2 hands.
i need to know whether or not buying the 14 hand pony will make me look bad and interfere with shows.

I volunteer with a German Shepherd Rescue group. This plea for help came through my email today:

Sarge is a 90 pound neutered male Shepherd that has gotten SARDS (sudden accute retinal degenerative syndrome ) and has lost his sight. He is three years old and up to date on his shots. His owner is moving and needs to find him a home. Please help us find him one. He is good with kids, other dogs & people. He is playful, gentle and loves pats.

I already volunteer with the rescue and do all that my financial, personal, and familial obligations allow me to. Still, every time I read something like this I feel like I am not doing enough and it can be heartbreaking at times.

So, my question for those of you that have a soft spot for animals, how do you deal with the feeling of "not being able to do more"?

per year before they will register a litter by you? of course haveing 10 or more litters a year is a bit much for one person unless multiple people care for the dogs at different locations but only pne person owns them.
Would you even buy from someone who have that many litters?
I'm not sure I would depends really.

When I finish college I want to buy a house with a big backyard and lots of space... maybe with a barn, stable, a pond.. i dont know! I want to have 2 samoyedos, 1 chihuahua, 5 ducks, 2 guinea pigs, 1 giant fish tank, 1 horse, and maybe a cat. Chickens? ohh and I wont eat them because im vegetarian.
I've always dreamed of having lots of animals... but sometimes people think that just because you have lots of animals your house is a mes and you stink.. what do you think? im veyr clean.

I volunteer at an animal shelter and at least twice a day, people show up wanting to know if we can provide free medical care for their sick/injured pets. The shelter is funded almost entirely by donation and we can barely afford to keep up medical care for the animals in our custody, let alone other people's pets. I also see a lot of "I think my kitty is dying, but I can't afford to take her to the vet" and "My dog is humping everything in sight but don't have the money to get him neutered" questions on YA.

I'm wondering why people acquire animals when they can't be bothered to take on the financial responsibility that goes with being a pet owner. You'd have to realize when you took the pet home that it's going to cost money to keep it, right? Is this a simple question of irresponsibility? I honestly don't understand the thinking behind this behavior.
