I want to bring my rabbit inside for the winter but I have three cats. I want to keep my rabbit in an indoor cage and there isn't any chance that the cats could get through the bars and harm him, but they may may sit there just looking at him. Will this freak my rabbit out having cats staring (possibly licking their lips?!)? Im not really up on rabbit psychology

Hmmm, I know the situation you're in Kellyanna,
Well there are two ways you could try and achieve.

First of all try to keep the rabbit cage in an off-limits area where the cats can't reach them, and rabbits are very smelly creatures so try to put them in a suitable place where the smell doesn't reach your nose :D. And also rabbits will get freaked out by cats since they are prey so put a blanket over the cage to avoid them having eye contact with the cats.

Or Secondly, if you're not too sure about the one above, then leave the rabbit in it's hut outside, and keep it well insulated with lots of hay, also put a blanket over it aswell, to have extra insulation, and as other people have said, if you have a shed, leave the rabbit there.

Hope you have a fun time which decision to choose, and also hope your rabbits and well looked after this winter.

Merry Christmas!

Make sure the rabbit has an area in the cage where he can hide out of sight, so if he gets stressed he can hide.

How old are the cats?
Young animals can be taught to get on with others, (eg: some people have a pet cat & dog, which get along just fine.)

Get a few friends over, get them to hold a cat each & you hold the rabbit, introduce them carefully each person making sure the animal in there arms cannot launch an attack. hopefully the animals will get to know the rabbit & accept it as a friend 'or at least not a threat or food'.

Though when i tryed this with my rabbit & a friends staffie pup, my rabbit leped from my arms & attacked the dog, in the few seconds it took us to get the rabbit back in her hutch the pup suffered a few bald patches & was cowering in a corner. :-(
(i wasn't expecting the rabbit to try anything)

yes, it will scare your rabbit. they might even try and get into the hutch, even though they can't, just because there is a strange animal there. if i were in this situation, i would put the rabbit in a room where the cats do not usually go, and then close the door to that room. that way, you don't have to worry about your cats and rabbit, and your rabbit is inside out of the cold too. i hope this helps.

Hello,
The rabbit will like being indoors.
I would make a box inside the cage so the rabbit can hide i it wants too.
These kittens of ours put there paws in the parrots cage and she got one of the kittens real good! Kittens have a respect for birds with hard beaks now.
Your cats and the rabbit will get to know each other too :0)
Rabbit poo is great fertilizer for house plants....

It could get him worried. Your rabbit should be fine out of the house if his hutch is well built and insulated - have you got a shed you could put it in?

Having said that, next door's buck has got the cat organised, he only needs to lollop towards the cat and moggy legs it. He has the dogs under his paw too, he's definitely in charge, and can threaten them just by staring. Depends on the rabbit's character, I suspect.

Cats are predators and rabbits are prey. Yes, it is likely to freak out your rabbit. I'd put the rabbit in a room off-limits to the cats.

I have never had rabbits, but know people that do, and apparently rabbits are happier outside, even in the winter. Just stuff one side of his hutch with hay, he will burrow in this and keep warm as needed.

Yes, it will be better to keep the rabbit in a different room with the hutch placed on a high table.
