I don't want to get one. I was just wondering.
They are very cute.

Hypothetically, yes. But realistically, no EFFING way.

I'm an animal trainer for a zoo and we have a rescued Capy that used to be a pet. Claudius is a good boy in general, but he is bitey at times and can get pushy with the wrong people.

You will have a really hard time getting a license for one, nevermind the process of finding a good Capy. And the upkeep of any wild animal is extremely challenging.

Leave exotics to the professionals. If you want something unique, there are tons of great alternatives that won't leave you bitten up, bankrupt and/or in jail.

I had a capy but he bit me so on the grill he went. That's a lie, sorry. Did not kill or eat a capybara. Just being a troll. Actually I think those big rats are disgusting, I would not allow one in the house. And I support hunting, especially if hogs. Because they are disgusting, yet delicious. Bye now!

Capybaras

I don't know too much but I do know that it is a very hard process to go through and caring for them is extremely hard. They are very social animals, so you have to buy at least two, they need 24/7 care and if they don't get enough attention and care; they can literally die of loneliness.

Yes, they are great family pets but you should keep them in pairs of at least two or three, otherwise they may get depressed or die of loneliness.

I would highly recommend not feeding them puppy chow. Do you know what is actually in that food, and you want to feed it to an herbivore?

What bugs me is that people are saying "NO DONT, ITS A WILD ANIMAL. WILD ANIMALS SHOULD NOT BE KEPT AS PETS"

Seriously, people?

So, in the beginning of time, dogs and cats were born as house hold pets? I think not. EVERY animal is meant to be wild. That is why they call it "training" an animal.

I don't think any wild animal should be kept as a pet.
