I recently purchased two Guinnea Pigs from PetSmart and they are extremely shy. I know they need time to get used to their new enviroment, and probably use to the new attention that they weren't getting before. How long does it usually take for a Guinnea Pig to really warm up and become affectionate to its owner with normal handling and care?

My teddy bear hamster usually hangs out upstairs he is about a week old. He feels more secure upstairs (in his cage) so all of the sudden he starts sleeping on the floor and I can see him breathing really hard but I'm not sure if he did that before. What should I do?

My father past away yesterday afternoon and needless to say I have been very sad. But my cat and dog are now acting weird. The dog is hyper and unsettled and the cat who kind of keeps to himself now follows me around EVERYWHERE and sleeping on me and just will not leave my side. Are they just sensing the sadness ?

I want to get my kids a pair of pet rabbits, however, my husband is very allergic to them. Can they live outside in some sort of hutch? We live in the MidWest and the summers get HOT, the winters get COLD. If so, what type of cage/hutch, bedding, etc...Is there a type of rabbit that may fare better? Thanks!

Could I have opinions please from people who actually have horses/know a lot about them.

Should I send my horse away to the trainer for a couple of months. He is already broke, he just needs training so he'll be ready to show.
+
Will be an excellent show horse
Will be a lot calmer when ridden

-
will cost money of course
Will be away from home, and could only see him around once a month

This is not a question and I am sorry for that but I was just roaming the questions about dog food and I noticed a few people recommeding IAMS. Please do NOT support this horrible brand of food. Almost all animal lovers refuse to use this type of food because of the animal testing that goes on. Please check this out!

We came back from vacation and noticed that our office room smells bad. Like a dead animal smell. It's been about 9 days since we have been back and it still smells. Could it be a dead rat in one of the walls?

How long would it take for a dead rat to decay and for the smell to go away?

4 ingredients: non-sudsy ammonia, vinegar, liquid dishwashing soap, and water. I originally found it in a pet book because it's great on pet stains. Now I can't remember the proportions of each ingredient. Can anyone help?

I've researched rabbit diet for a gew days, comparing MANY websites, and I've found only a few that reccomend giving pet rabbits yogurt. Is there anyone that gives it to their pet rabbits, and how much should I give? Please only awnser if you've had experience or know someone who has well, because I don't want to end up giving my rabbit something that's bad for her. Thanks in advance!

I've been training my horse to barrel race for almost a year now. We haven't done anything more than a steady lope, for we are currently working on turning the barrel. We've worked with it enough so that he knows to "seek out" the barrel, rate, and hussle to the next barrel.

My question is what can help my horse pick up his shoulder around the barrel? My horse tends to drop his shoulder. We've been doing some exercises such as spiraling around the barrel at the lope. What can I do to help my horse to understand to pick up his shoulder?

My instructor mentioned he drops his shoulder, but I won't have another lesson for awhile because of the holidays. She failed to mention what I might be doing wrong and it's been driving me nuts lol so thought I'd ask for any suggestions until my next lesson.
