Not all rabbits are indoor (in fact, most reside in rabbit barns), so just saying a cool shady place inside won't cut it. And even if they are indoors, just like people who are inside... they may get a little hot from time to time during the hot summer months.

A trick that nearly every breeder I know does is fill empty soda bottles with water and place them in the freezer. This will give your rabbit something cool to lay against. You can change it out throughout the day as it melts.

Make sure the rabbit has plenty of air as well. Some websites sell fans for cages. Here is an example (look under fans): http://bunnyrabbit.com/

Also, rabbits do not sweat but instead cool themselves through their ears. You can spray the outside of their ears with cool (not ice cold, though) and they will appreciate that as well.

As others have suggested take a 20oz water or soda bottle (you should use a a million liter also) and fill it with water. Freeze it sturdy, ascertain you get rid of the label on it. placed it contained in the cage with the bunny and he or she will be able to position hostile to it. you may put in a granite tile for bunny to position on besides. Granite has a tendency to be cooler than the air round it so it extremely works to assist cool your bunny too. keep air circulating close to the cage. you should use a fan on low close to the cage, alongside with lower than the twine floor. (that doesn't recommend placed a fan blowing on your rabbit! ) ascertain the hutch is contained in the colour and your rabbit has a good number of unpolluted water. Rabbits do a lot extra effective contained in the chilly than contained in the nice and cozy temperature.

Fill plastic water bottles with water and freeze them, then put them in their cage to help them keep cool.
Another technique is to take ceramic tiles or a similar material and put them in the fridge or freezer to cool them off, then set them in the cage so that your bunny can lie on them. There is a product called the chinchiller that is made for chinchillas which is essentially that.

Another good technique is to aim a fan at part, but not all of the bunny's cage so that they can feel the breeze, but don't have to be in it.
If your rabbit is outside, make sure that the cage is located in the shade in a well ventilated area.
Always make sure your rabbit is staying hydrated by providing him or her with plenty of water.

Definitely fill soda bottles with water and freeze them. If you have several you can rotate them and your bunny will keep cool. If you have a fan that you can blow near the cage (not directly on the rabbit) this might help too.
