I might be getting this Standardbred who I am kind of "saving." He is dead lame but it is the first time I have seen him lame ( I have known him for 3 years) and he used to be a sulky racer and is 16. I'm going to see him tomorrow and examine his legs, but I'm just wondering what would be good for him. Stall rest? shoes off?
Thanks!!

I have 2 new male "teddy bear" hamsters that I adopted from Petland over the weekend and they seem to have adapted to their new home quite nicely. I currently have both in a single cage, but that will be changing as I am aware syrian hamsters are very territorial and will fight. I also have a labrador retriever puppy at home who is in love with them and watches them play but doesnt know her own strength. To keep my hamsters safe while I am at work, I keep them locked up in my bedroom all day and play with them when I get home at night.

So heres my question, my bedroom is in the basement and I dont have windows. Can hamsters live in complete darkness? The only time they are in the light is when I am in my room with them. I dont want thier bodies to get all out of whack so do they need natural sunlight to survive? Also, because its a little colder in the basement, I put a towel under the cage and around the cage...any other suggestions? Thanks!!

I have 2 mice. I think they are both female but I could be wrong. One is large and the other is tiny. I went away for a day and a half and I left food and water, but maybe I didn't leave enough. Anyway yesterday I noticed my small mouse has patches of fur missing and I was wondering if the larger one hurt the small one.Could the little one have pulled its own fur out? The larger one does pick on the small one from time to time, but they get along most of the time.Any ideas????

I want to get a cat and in the past when I was young we never used to let them out, I now am wondering if this is cruel. The thing is there are a few dogs that just roam the streets around here because I assume the owners cannot be bothered to walk them. Would the cat be safe going out. There are a few cats in this street that go out and they seem ok.

We are looking to adopt another pet rock to keep Peter company. I have located these two options. Which one do you think would make a better companion for Peter?
Thank you all for your help.

does your laptop (after certain period of time, a year or so..) clog up with your pets hairy making your computer shut down on itself whenever you make it work too hard, like for example, when i work on heavy software in 3d modelling and autocad, my laptop seems to shut down making me loose all of my work. this happened exactly a year ago, i took it to have it checked and they founds piles of my rabbit's hair everywhere. i got cleaned and it began to work fine. a year has passed and just recently its starting to do the same again....so my question is...

do you get the same problem? does it also happen to you every year? what can be done to prevent this? my rabbit never gets even close to it, so i cant even imagine who the fur gets in, how does it go in your case?
