does your laptop (after certain period of time, a year or so..) clog up with your pets hairy making your computer shut down on itself whenever you make it work too hard, like for example, when i work on heavy software in 3d modelling and autocad, my laptop seems to shut down making me loose all of my work. this happened exactly a year ago, i took it to have it checked and they founds piles of my rabbit's hair everywhere. i got cleaned and it began to work fine. a year has passed and just recently its starting to do the same again....so my question is...

do you get the same problem? does it also happen to you every year? what can be done to prevent this? my rabbit never gets even close to it, so i cant even imagine who the fur gets in, how does it go in your case?

Best preventitive maintenance is to get your laptop cleaned every 6 months. If you over heat too often you can burn out your processor and or your motherboard. I used to repiar laptops and that was one of the frequent problems I saw... Pet hair in the fans is just as bad as dust. It holds heat and makes your system run too hot. Just having a pet in the house is enough to get hair. It collects on you, on your furniture, tables, floors, ect. The only way to stop it is to not have a pet, and that would not be fun.

Animal's in the home that shed (such as rabbits) will have the hair in the air. The cooling fan in your laptop actually sucks it in. You can use the cans of compressed air on a regular basis to keep it from getting thick enough to cause overheating. Once it has gotten to the point of overheating the case of the laptop will need to be opened to clean out all of the hair that has built up. Get a professional to clean it this time and then from now on at least once a week use the can of compressed air to clean on at least a weekly basis and should take care of the problem.

Wow, That is strange. I have 2 cats and 4 dogs and have yet to experience this problem. I know your rabbit can't be THAT hairy,so I suspect that there is some other underlying problem besides the hair.Take it to a different computer person.

P.S. I do have 2 electronic air cleaners running 24/7 and use an air filtering vacuum as well, MAYBE that has something to do with it.

Clean very often - either use the compressed air dusters to blow between the keys, or slide Post-It (sticky side down) between the keys to catch hair and dust.
But to tell the truth, it shouldn't really be happening, maybe your electric system shorts out when it overheats.

You can try going to your local computer store and see if they sell plastic keyboard overlays that fit over your keyboard to protect it from liquid spills and particle (and pet hair!) buildup.
