Funny, how I come upon this question. I Live in NJ and I was just bit by a bug that mimicks the Brown recluses bite. My elbow swelled up to about the size of a tennis ball and had a large white puss ball at the tip (the bite) which eventually went black and was bruised. The doctor has had me on I.V antibiotics. The doctor called it a super bug because the brown recluse is supposedly not in our area. This is untrue....the brown recluse can be transported by carry on luggage etc and brought to other places. Just because I could not produce the Recluse they wrote it off. But I just read an article in our local paper that this has happened to someone else and was confirmed to be the brown recluse. This happened on tuesday of last week and it is monday the swelling went down big time but the redness and the pain has not gone away at all. If by thursday the pain or redness is not completely gone I have to go to the hospital for more IV'S because most likely it has infected the bone which would suck. Stay away from the brown recluse and any other spider or bug that may be poisonous and never say never!
