Also say if you wouldn't chose a dog. If so, you can say what animals you like.

i read a article on one of the animal sites that said we should stop the slaughter of animals by buying special vegetarian dog food and cat food and we all should be vegetarians. i am 100% for animal rights. but that's just not healthy for dogs or cats. god made them to be meat eaters for a reason. what do you think would happen if we all animals included were forced to become vegetarians? i dont think the out come would be good at all how many pros and cons can you come up with?

Hi. I live in India and have recently kept a guinea pig. I am concerned about his diet. He loves to eat capsicum, apple(leaves the skin) cabbage, cauliflower, coriander, wheat grass. Now my questions are

1. what is timothy hay called in india? I read that it forms staple diet for guinea pigs.

2. how many times should i feed him? or should there be food in the cage at all times?
3. I was told that oranges are liked by them and supply all the needed vit C. but mine doesnt like oranges??
4. Pellets arent available here. so what should be the meal plan followed by me?

He absolutely loves wheat grass. and i have planted it in a few pots but they cant be enough for him....what do i do?? the shop owner very conveniently told me that cabbage is enough but i obviously have my doubts....

So I had gotten two pet mice from a local Petco about a month and a half ago. The dark one was generally pretty scared of me, and the white the most curious little thing ever. Recently, the dark one has opened up to me and actaully jumps twords my hand if I put it in the tank. Well, my question... When I was hand feeding it a carrot slice from my salad mix my hand smelt like carrots after (Well, that's to be expected.)... And the mouse bit me. Whatever. Washed my hands. Waited a few hours... Played with her for a bit... She bit me again. And ever since then (About a week ago), every time I pick her up she bites me. What's up with that, and how do I make her stop? Also. The white one, within the past week, has become less friendly and less able to handle. Just in the sense that she doesn't come to my hand anymore, and tries to squirm away if held. Neither of them have been hurt by a human, to my knowledge. So, I don't understand the sudden attitude change. Help, anyone?

I have been researching about them and I know the basics but I would like to hear about how other people have kept them (what size tank, how many, how did you keep it humid, what did you feed them, where you got them, how long did they live?)

thanks

What would a cat do if you had a hamster in the house.?
We were thinking of a hamster, but we have a male and female cat in the house. I just want to know why or why not it would get along. What other small animal would be better if you chose "no". Could a guinea pig be a good choice?

as I'm writing this question. My son noticed it a couple of hours ago and all the children are very upset. I can't get them settled - the hamster (Candy) is hanging on but I think she will die tonight.

Does anyone have any advice on helping the children cope - I've already tried the hamster heaven talk.

It happens everyday...I mean, it happens a LOT. People bring in a sick pet, often with no vaccinations, often with something eminently preventable like heartworm disease, Often with a huge horrible tumor that they claim "Just showed up yesterday.".

I've worked at the cheapest vet in town and now I work at a more expensive one..and everytime this happens people act like I'm a bad person because I can't work for free. As often as this happens I'd be broke. I DO work for free at the local shelter and S.P.C. A, but I don't work for free for any pet with an owner.

I can help with payment plans and I take pet insurance. But people complain about vet bills, even at the cheap vet! It's the Pet owners responsibility to take care of the pet. Why blame the Vet because you adopted an animal and now it's sick? I mean, The Vet didn't give it cancer...cripes.
