Felines (cats) are natural predators. They are known for going after mice, birds and other animal. They will naturally go after a hamster. So, it would not be fair to get a hamster and risk putting it in danger. Even if you kept it in a cage, if it ever got out, the cat could hurt or kill it. Also, the cat(s) would always try to get to the hamster and could windup harming themselves in the process.

If you feel you must have a hamster and you will die without one, keep it in an aquarium cage. Hamsters are escape artists. I had 2 cats and a hamster at the same time. Skittish (the hamster) loved it when the cats would watch him and come near his house. It drove the cats crazy though. Its more unfair to cats than it is to the hamster. hope this helped

When I had a Hamster and a Cat in the same house, my cat got the cage open and ate the hamster. True story, I was 10. I wouldn't recommend it. Cats are supposed to catch them by nature.

If given the opportunity, the cats would catch and kill it, no matter how sweet the cit is. It's just their nature.
However, I have 2 mice in a 10 gallon aquarium, with a well fitting screen cover. For extra protection I use duck tape on all 4 corners. It's not the greatest looking setup, but it keeps my mice safe from the cat.

I wouldn't get a hamster if I were you. The cats miight eat it. If they don't, the hamster might die anyway from terror of the cats. Not a good idea.

The cats would kill you in their sleep. See, cats don't have a sense of humor.
