I have a five month old colt, he has crusting around his eyes, and his back feet are all swellen up by his feet, he is walking ok, eating ok, and does not have a fever, the vet said that it is a typical cold in a young horse. Does that sound right? or should I be calling a different vet to take a look at him.

I want a cat breed that won't go outdoors, but I don't know what breed is best. I want to either train it or buy it breed in. Would my dogs influence it to go out the dog door if I got it breed in? :?

Why does everybody think that Arabians are 'hot- headed' and 'crazy'? I think I know the reason why, but you guys tell me if you think otherwise. Okay, you all know about those Quarter Horses, how their owners and trainers ride them to death, drain blood out of them and train them to carry their heads so low that they probably can't ever move naturally again. Well, if you didn't know, now you do. So yes, compared to a QH that has had it's whole future ruined for a bunch of ribbons, I'd say an Arab does look fiesty. But then again, so does a turtle. Now don't get me wrong, there are many really nice QH's out there, and I used to ride them. But how come we never hear about them? How come people always accuse the Arab for being graceful and majestic? Just to state something, if it weren't for the Arabian, the would be no QH; there wouldn't be a lot of breeds. Nobody gives any horse a fair chance, I think, it is pretty much stereotypes.

I can't have my male bunny neutered due to him having retained testicles and although he was an excellent house bunny, using his litter box and only becoming the one bunny destruction team when faced with a paper product. He is now urinating on my bed and sofa whenever given a 20second window in his supervision. I really want to get him back into good habits and have bought a couple more litter boxes but this doesn't seem to be working. Can anyone help?

Animal rights is the idea that animals have rights like people and should not be used for our purposes (such as draft, wool, meat, milk, eggs, experimentation, companionship, etc.)

Animal welfare is the idea that animals can be used and owned by humans as long as they are treated well.

OR, if you are not firmly in either category, why not?
AND, if you disagree with my generalized descriptions of each group, why?

P.S. I have a dog so obviously I am in the animal welfare category, but I am not "against" anything, just curious about your beliefs :-).

Please let me know if you are interested or know someone that is. I would like them to have a home together so they at least have each other. I love them to death and its going to kill me to get rid of them, but its selfish for me to keep them. They are too good of dogs to not be enjoyed by someone that can take the time to spend with them.

My ferret is a 6-year-old neutered male. A couple of weeks ago he started losing a lot of hair. I know that it is often a sign of adrenal disease, but he is not losing any hair at the base of his tail. Rather, it started in the middle of his back. He has a bald patch there, the hair is thinning on his belly and now he is starting to lose hair on his neck as well. I haven't noticed any unusual biting or scratching and his skin looks okay. Any thoughts on what the cause of this could be? He is eating well and acting okay. I don't want to take him to the vet unless I absolutely have to because I know it will cost hundreds of dollars and I just can't afford it.

My husband is terminally ill, money has been so tight, as I have to stay home with him now. My four children are so worried. Elmo our dog has been with us since his birth, and he's family. I took him to the vet last week, and they said he has a very serious murmor, and enlarged heart. He needs to be seen. I made a couple of calls....the best answer was $1200. for the echo and the reading, visit with the specialist. I am looking for a place in the chicago area or suburbs that would reduce costs or take payment plans....ect. Thank you for your help in advance!
