Guinea Pigs, or Cavies, as they are actually called ,need to have certain vegetables and fruits in their daily diet along with their pellets. First of all , they do not make their own vitamin C like many animals such as dogs do. They are like humans in this respect. They need to have oranges and other vitamin C rich foods daily. But dont just give them loads of it or you can cause them to get sick. Try offering a half a wedge of orange every day. They need to always have a washed carrots available to help keep their teeth short and also for the vitamin A. They wont get sick on the carrots. You can give them a piece of washed broccoli also. Do NOT give your cavy lettuce or you can make it have diarhea and dehydrate ( same goes for rabbits ). If you happen to have horses or cows and have sweet feed available , give them some of that. They love it. They also really enjoy fresh cilantro but do not give them parsley. Cilantro is like candy to them! You can tell it from parsley by it's smell. Cilantro has a much stronger scent. They enjoy dry corn that you would give hamsters as well.

Well, the best thing you can do is get more food ASAP. But until then, feed your piggie leafy (dark) greens, carrots, apples, oranges, kiwis, strawberries, and other fruits rich in vitamin C. If you have Timothy Hay, feed more than usual. Also try to feed your cavy more vitamin C than usual, because it will severely lack the vit. C otherwise. Put Vit. C drops (if possible) in your piggies water, and more than usual. The overall best thing you can do, though, is get more Guinea Pig food in the next 3 days at the most.

Well if u have any apples or carrots around the house, guinea pigs absolutly LOVVE fruit. Cut it up in little pieces and put it all together, and it will be a feast of a lifetime for your guinea pig.

Don't give your pig too much fruit because it's high in sugar. The best alternative would be lettuce like romaine lettuce (not iceberg, there is no nutritional value) and veges high in vitamin C like bell peppers. Also herbs like cilantro and parsley are good for piggies. Timothy had is essential for their diet and they should always have a limited supply for digestion and to keep their teeth healthy. If they have hay and veges they can go the day without the pellets.

dark green leafy any thing, Timothy hay is essential, they love carrots and celery (leaves and all). Some may like peppers, or cucumbers, try to stay away from iceberg lettuce it will give them the runs and has no nutrition for them. they should always have fresh veggies of some sort (not frozen or canned)
stay away from cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower(could give them gas which will make them very sick. Limit fruits you give them the natural sugars are not good for them 1 orange slice daily is all they need.
In a pinch if you have untreated grass (no pesticides and fertilizers) they may like that.
Mine don't really eat their food much
