I want a cat breed that won't go outdoors, but I don't know what breed is best. I want to either train it or buy it breed in. Would my dogs influence it to go out the dog door if I got it breed in? :?

Sorry, there is no cat that is not going to want to go outside. Getting a kitten and training it from the start not to go outside is your best bet. Even then, they'll go out an open door when given the chance (say, you leave the door open a little when you come in to set the groceries down on the table). And the cat will not care that there is a door labeled a 'doggie door', they will happily trot out it with little or no encouragement from the puppy.

I also think it is a good idea to keep cats indoors, I have 3 myself(all are indoor cats) and 2 of them never want to go outside and one tries sometimes, but when he does get out by accident he just sits there and I grab him real quick. I think the himalayan is a pretty breed, my cats are all mixed breeds that I found on the street.

My neighbors have two Ragdoll cats. They got a second one (a kitten) because they like the first so much. Ragdolls are calm and laid-back, they do not have as much prey instinct as some other breeds. This is because they have been bred only as pets with no background as hunting or barn cats. Purebreds are more expensive, but I think it would be worth it to have such a wonderful cat :-). Here is a link to a Ragdoll breed club. You could try there for more information.

Good luck!

I have two INDOOR only cats and two dogs--MY cats dont go out an open door so it is possible to get them to stay inside--Besides that your making a GREAT choice by wanting the cat to be INSIDE only--TO many things happen to cats that are outside--Hit by car, attacked by other animals, cat fights, poisoned because people dont want them in their trash,on their cars etc etc.. ITS safer for them to be inside--

if you want a cat that stays in all day, you should not get a cat.
imagine someone saying you had to stay in doors all day. it's not what cats do, and if they do, they are forced to.
get an giant malaysian millapede instead.
