Is it because we pet them?

personally i don't call them pets they are family!! like my two ferrets they are my other two kids. or my horse another kid and the ferret i'm house sitting for a good friend of mineand my husbands he is our nephew pet is a dirty word

Man's vanity. That's the only reason for pets. So, man can pretend to control something. As a person, How would you like to be a pet? Now think about for a sec. Like getting neutered.
