My daughter has a couple of cornish hen chicks that she has been raising from little babies for 4-H. The neighbor's dog got to them yesterday and hurt them pretty bad. They are able to walk and have drank water. She was so crushed by this last night, she put medicine on them and wrapped them up to try to save them. Today, I see that they are just perched in their brooder but still drinking water. Is there something else we can do? Please don't say ring their necks, this is my little girl's project and it is sad.

I once worked with a guy who had 2 dogs called Alex and Charlotte, everyone thought he was talking about his kids! Should a line of distinction be drawn between people's and pets' names?

i have a little can thing of yoplait yogurt, called lite, with fruit mixed in, i think strawberries and blue berries. its labled fat free, the Berries 'n Cream kind, i think the back label of ingredients has aspartine, i was wondering if it was safe to give it to them, the rats, and also, what about hamsters, dwarf russian hamsters. will the aspartine or other ingreadients hurt my rats? will it hurt my hamsters? i dont want to overload them on it, just as a treat, like walking on to my hand.

I've always wanted to own one and was wondering the best ways to go about taking care of one. I mean in terms of how much attention they would need a day, best caged habitats and such.

I already looked up most of the info online but was wondering if anyone who owns one could give me some general advice.

Really, its irritating and superficial. I've heard terms such as "terrible, disgusting, ugly, mean, dirty," etc... to describe them, by people who have never had them as pets. I really wish people would at least contribute informed opinions and do a little bit of research once in awhile instead of buying into mainstream ignorance about such animals.

ESPECIALLY before buying a pet, thats probably the most irritating thing about these pet questions, are those who are misinformed and own exotic animals.

I guess this is more of a vent than a question... but what are your informed thoughts about this?

My cousin asked if he could use him (Lese him free) he wanted to use my horse so he could go riding with his daughter. He said he would take care of him all winter for the use of him through the next summer. Rich did get a hold of me around Feb or march asking me if he could buy my horse or trade me a car.I said NO.I not selling the horse for that car. Rich said he wanted to keep using him like we agreed on in the beginning. there was no paper work involved it was just us talking and my brother Larry was there when we was talking.I still have my APHA certificate of registration, and my last years coggons.I went to Rich's to see my horse and Rich told me that my horse got out and he called the police& animal control can't find him . I went to both and he never called them to report it.I went out looking& found my horse. He sold him for 600.I want my horse back .that's like saying I let him use my car & he sells it with out me knowing about it there has to be something I can do plz help

Do sheep and goats make the same sound? In other words, if I blindfolded someone and put them next to one of them could they accurately identify which one made the relevant noise?

Heres one for the books. I have a dwarf rabbit that was bred with my jersey wooley...neither very big rabbits, a month later my dwarf went into labor. She originally had 2 quite large babies that were dead, and then a tiny living black one. The black one we still have.
We instantly seperated her from the male and they have not been together since...he is alone... Now, yesterday, I noticed her pulling all of the fur out of her 3 week old babies body and lining the cage, so I took the baby out for its safety. This morning there were 3 more very large dead babies in the cage. How could she have carried these babies for 3 extra weeks without dying of toxins? Now this is a small rabbit with large babies. Is this common?

The US House of Representatives just approved a bill to ban the slaughter of horses in the United States for human consumption.

The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act, which still awaits approval by the Senate, passed on a 263-146 vote, setting the stage for the possible elimination of an industry that Rep. Edward Whitfield (R-Ky.) called "a grossly inhumane business."

If your going to ban killing one mammal, why not protect all of them?? Doesn't a cow or pig feel as much pain as a horse?
