My daughter has a couple of cornish hen chicks that she has been raising from little babies for 4-H. The neighbor's dog got to them yesterday and hurt them pretty bad. They are able to walk and have drank water. She was so crushed by this last night, she put medicine on them and wrapped them up to try to save them. Today, I see that they are just perched in their brooder but still drinking water. Is there something else we can do? Please don't say ring their necks, this is my little girl's project and it is sad.

I have called some vets around here, but they mostly specialize in large animals and dogs/cats. I wanted to try to help before my daughter gets home from school.
Thanks for the links to websites, I have found some pretty good ideas so far.

i'm very sorry to hear about your hens! i would definitely call your vet, or see if there is a vet that specializes in bird care in your area. in the meantime, i would try to keep them in a clean, sanitary place where they won't get any infections in their wounds.

Thats really a shame. Must be hard for your daughter. I would have a good vet check them out. Hope their OK. Good luck.
